Let's just say the sentence was "This is my friend and ___ at a party."
To check, you'd remove the friend from the sentence.
So.
"This is my friend and I at a party" would be "This is I at a party."
"This is my friend and me at a party" would be "This is me at a party."
Therefore, "my friend and me" is correct.
Now, if you were saying, "My friend and __ are at a party."
"My friend and me are at a party" would be "Me are at a party."
"My friend and I are at a party" would be "I am at a party."
Therefore in this situation, "My friend and I are at a party," would be correct.
There's the difference. If what I just said is wrong, 12 years of Upper Darby education has failed me.
