It's really not that bad of a tattoo...Quality wise its just bold outlined ink...As far as the meaning behind it...Who cares? if he likes it then it doesnt really matter what anyone elses thinks period.
I know a guy who has the Nissan symbol tattoo'd on his back...Whoooptie doo!
