I just did that with running my 42" at work as a secondary to the laptop, wouldn't display under alot of resolutions until I got it dialed in just right.

I originally tried to run in dual monitor mode. It would recognize the monitor but nothing would show on it. I tried multiple resolutions. Everytime I hit “extend my screen to this monitor” or “use as main display” the monitors in display settings would just become grayed out.
