R12 still leaks out, no hose is perfect. That is one of the reason why it was deemed unsafe. Freeze 12 is an alternative, but you have to evac all the old R12 and then pump in the Freeze 12; otherwise goodbye compressor. My Honda still has R12. It was last filled up 7 years ago. I had it serviced a month ago and it took a can..that is normal in my book considering the A/C went through Louisiana and Texas heat for those 7 years.
