Alex, I believe the original Monster Miatas came with a Mustang 5.0, then people started swapping in the LS1 because of the weight and power advantage. I've seen them with just about anything though including the SR20, F20/22c, 13b, 20b, and various other v6, v8, and even a v12. The LS1 is a great motor, that's why it's such a popular swap into so many cars.
