The drive up wasnt too bad since it was fall and going through the mountains you could see all the leaves different colors. It was pretty much all highway and when you start getting more north the roads clear up. So if you drive up during the day it is a good chance you can make good timing. Mapquest says 7.5 hours and we made it in around 6.

I remember the pancakes were amazing!

We were going to go a second time but about half way up it started snowing heavily and forecasts were bad so we turned around. On the way back I swear I hit a wolf. No one believes me but it was in the middle of nowhere and something bigger than a dog ran out in front of the car. I was doing 60 or something so I didnt get a real good look and the passenger was sleeping and it was gone by the time I pulled over.
