Anyway, I have to agree that some old the newer German stuff doesn't seem to last that well. Friend of mine's S600 basically went to hell in a handbasket, with some hydrolic lines breaking in the car, spitting its fluids all over. This, after one of the water-air IC pumps went, amonst other things. His dealership is blaiming the modifications to the exhaust and suspension controls on these failures.
Another friend, his 24v VR6 FINALLY got out of hte shop yesterday due to a warped head. That car doesn't even have 65k on it yet (2004), and has already had quite a few parts that needed to be replaced, and he doesn't even beat on it.
A few others I know with older Mk2 VWs, still run like champs, hundreds of thousands of miles later (like, a stg. 3 s/c'd VR6)
