layer effects > emboss or w/e the 3d crap is called; if you do it on a flat circle and mess around with the settings you can make it look like a sphere (just a dull one, you'd have to add reflections separately and stuff to make it look shiny)
filters are also probably a good idea, and remember, google is thy friend
