What does it mean when someone puts their left hand down?

For the 2 weeks I've been riding, I've come across tons of riders and probably 7 of them takes their left hand off the clutch and puts it down when they see me... not sure if it means something or if they just wanna air out their clutch hand? I dunno but I've just been wondering... I always just nod or honk at other riders and they nod or honk back too.

its the guys like waving signaling to a fellow rider while passing eachother.

yeah dude usually all bikers do it as a way of saying hi biker.. i dont ride. but most people do it to all other bikers its a peace sign or a low wave. your left hand is closer to the road and its clutch side its easier to drop it down.

It is the biker wave, duh.

I never had that issue. Just about everyone that rides is happy to see a fellow rider.

Harley's are hit or miss for me, sometimes they wave back, sometimes they don't even look my way. I still wave regardless though.....

You haven't ridden enough.

I find a lot of guys on cruisers won't acknowledge someone on a sport bike. Maybe they are intimidated by my fully geared self or something but I rarely get a wave from them.

Guys on Sport Tourers seem to be the most consistent wavers.

I have found guys on sport bikes with tank top/shorts/flip-flops tend not to wave to someone wearing gear like myself as well.

I still wave to everyone one, whether they are a douche and don't wave back, because we are all out there on two enjoying ourselves.

Haha, I'm pretty sure they look the opposite way on purpose, what a bunch of pansies.
