New car in the stable, 08 HHR SS

So I just put a deposit on a car for Julie. She found an 08 HHR SS A4 with the blue/purple color that she wanted(1 of less then 200 made). All options except for the LSD that comes with the Brembo brake upgrade. We wanted the LSD but didn't want the Brembos because then we couldn't be able to get a set of regular wheels for winter tires.

The dealer is delivering the car later this week from Ohio. Got it for a good price $16k + tax/tags with only 12k miles on it. Was the owner of the dealerships wifes car. All services were done at the dealer and they have the receipts. Carfax and GMVIS are clean. Only belmish is a small scape on the bottom the bumper that looks like someone pulled too far into a parking spot and nipped the curb.

She has already called the local dealer about installing the stage 1 GM kit that should add 30HP and 70TQ without voiding the warreny. Once the new MAP is installed I plan on further tuning it for her. Stage 1 only they are running high 13s so with a custom tune on top of it I should be able to shave a few 10ths of the second off.

Overall, I was very speptical about the car but after spending some time in one, it feel build very well, has enough power, and fuctional for a good daily.

I looked at the HHR SS but i would definitely get the brembos and lsd...From my past experiences WELL WORTH the extra cash.

I've always liked these for some reason. I would a panel HHR to work out of.
Good luck with it!

There is actually a brand spanking new leftover 09 SS panel in Canada LOL 0% 72 months available. We looked at PT Cruiser GTs but they felt really crappy and had alot less room on the inside.

Brembos are way overpriced for a street car in my book. Best case this thing hits the track once a year for 1/4 so no need for that good of brakes. I've read that the stockers warp really quick but aftermarket ones are really cheap so no issue there. Really wanted the LSD but that package on comes with the brakes. Don't wanna shell out for SS rims for winter tires just because the brakes don't fit.

TBSS is faster, It has the same 400HP LS2 at the Vette and GTO. They are just much bigger then we wanted even though they were awsome cars when we looked at them

Back seats will have 3 car seats for kids at work. I sat in the back when she took one for a test drive, didn't feel any worse then other cars in its class/price range, granted it was only maybe 30 minutes or so.

If they are anything like the DUB's, those CV joints SUCK... Be prepared to replace them early.
