Dyno question.....

(mods move this is if needs to go in the tuning section)

long story short a buddy of mine has had 3 mustang cobras (03-04) both prior cars made over 600 hp to the wheel and both cars had over 30k miles.

his current car has about 8k on it... whatever mods he had on the other ones prior plus an even bigger whipple @ 22 psi(prior cars were 18 i believe).

we go to the shop, arrange for the three pulls just to get some numbers out of it....this is where it gets interesting... car was backed onto the dyno (dyno dynamics) wheel chalks put in front of the front wheels ratchet straps where put on over the front tires, no other straps where used... not even on the rear...then come the 10-15 mins of warming up the tires doing mini 3rd gear pulls from 3k to red line....hops out "letting it cool down" for about 5 mins or so while its running with a decent sized fan on it. hopes back in for a couple min warm up.. then the three quick pulls....car would go loop and run 12.5-12.8 across the board.(lean is mean right? lol:roll: ) .... hopefully the video will be up soon so i can show u guys that also but here is what the lovely dyno sheet says.

i covered out the shops name and owners name.

but the dyno also said it made some thing outrageous like 1600 ft lbs tq ..(video clearly shows this fact)

cars going to another dyno to see another set of numbers. but my question is no rear strap on the dyno is unsafe in my opinion on any car. the tq number is whats bothering the hell out of me... he said its multiplied through the drive train and the circumference of the tire. but thats an outrageous number for 450 hp.... its a mustang.. its no cummins truck. so my question would be what would make this dyno read like it did? maybe its just me but this is just bad dyno work and probably a poorly set up dyno.

That car did not put out 1600TQ.

thanks for restating the obvious. my question was just that if u read my above post.

i wanted to know if his notion of some calculated formula through the drivetrain equaled that outrageous number or if the guy was a retard.

but thanks again for your astute observation.

The pick up must have been off quite a bit.... I dont know if its a calibration thing or what but I've seen it a few times.
