I haven't been there in at least 3 years, but last time I was there, I drove up in a reaaaaally crappy 87 Dodge Charger 2.2L with a bad carb that basically smoked everyone out, and holes in the exhaust. they looked at the car for about 45 seconds and waved me through... that was open test and tune though, and like I said, a while back.

depends what you drive you could pull up in a mustang with 3 wheels on it and you pass, or a civic and they will give it a once over...

For most street cars, basically as long as your battery is in the stock location or if the batters is in a battery box if it was moved, you'll be OK. Also, if you have an aftermarket hood without a latch, they will want you to have hood pins. If you don't have a snell approved helmet, you'll have to rent one. Its NJ State law.

The more you go and the more the staff gets to know you, the quicker tech inspection is. When I use to go regullarly tech inspection was:
"Anything major changed on the car?"
"No." after the car idles up with a new exhaust dump pipe sticking out under the driver's side door.
"Ok here is your wrist band. Have fun"

For me tech was a little different,

You have a turbo or Nos?

Yes

Where is you nomex Jacket?

Right here.

Is your gas tank in stock location?

No, it has a fuel cell in the hatch. But it is all legal according to the rules.

OK, here is your wrist band

:)

How'd did everyone do, meaning the evo group and yourself?

yea true, i forgot it just my car looks stupid so they look it over everywhere haha, aftermarket turbo, no roof, battery in the trunk, with a 10pt cage so they look it over pretty good lol

I have a rubber gromet on my clutch cable that got smushed out and made the cable to long. So I was having a real hard time shifting gears and I didn't have any tools with me to fix it. Then later I noticed my vacum line came off my fuel pressure regulator, I need to clamp it on for next time. After all that, the best I could do was a 12.5 with a 1.7 60ft on RE01R's on pump gas.

There was a Evo there running 10.5 Nice!

Many of you have probably met me and didn't realize it. I used to be a tech inspector at Island a few years ago, did it for 3 seasons. As long as we don't think you'll die in a wreck, or have something that will cause a wreck, then you will most likely be allowed to race that night. The guys over there do remember cars that had issues though, so make sure that its been addressed by the next time you come out.
