I can't believe some of the BS assignments I have in school now....

My latest assignment is to write a paper on four negative things I say to myself regularly then think of four positive things I could say in their place and reflect on it.

I can't think of four negative things I say to myself regularly. I swear if a professor gave out this assignment when I was in college getting my first degree in the mid 90's, half the class would have laughed at it and asked if the professor was serious.

It sounds like the professor has major self esteem issues and believes we all have the same issues too.

lol if you say "man I'm stupid" joking or not, thats negative..

stuff like that... it sounds easy to me

Chris B. 03-18-2010 07:06 PM

I guess the hard part is making up some negative things that I say to myself and finding enough to write about them to fill up four pages. Its so much easier when I don't have to make up four pages of bull****.

What am I suppsoe to get out of this assignment? Leanring how to bull**** better to fill up more pages?

DPancoast 03-18-2010 07:09 PM

haha yeah I hear ya man... I dunno what to tell you

What the things are do not matter - the things that matters is that you write it well about a subject that makes you uncomfortable to think about. Sucks but is a pretty useful skill in the business world.

Half the assignments I get in college are just plain useless. If you want to know my opinion on school its pretty simple. School and college especially is a way to create jobs for all those teachers who have nothing better to do or can't find a job anywhere else. Do I think 2 years is necessary...yes. Do I think four years of useless classes is necessary...no. Half the classes I have to take have nothing to do with the career focus. Is going to an art class going to really help me manage a company...NO. That's my theory on why college is just plain dumb.

It all depends on your major.
I'm taking Engineering, and yes... I do need all 4years to cram everything in.

I did 1.5 years of engineering and then switched to psych because fluid dynamics and calcII owned my life.

it's actually a pretty easy and cool assignment. just read a few threads in here and you will find that (in general) it is a lot easier to be negative towards things than it is to be positive. whether it is negativity towards yourself or others i wouldn't think it matters. In fact your reflection on your professor and this assignment is negative. Why not make it positive? it's funny to me how people always jump towards negativity first.

it's obvious you don't know what you are talking about. There is always something to be learned and applied in life no matter what you are doing. in fact by this statement alone i learned a lot about you and your work ethic. I would not hire you based on this statement alone. You show no drive and no willingness to think outside of the box and try to apply knowledge to other aspects of life.

vdcoff 03-19-2010 03:18 PM

Man why can't my car be faster?

theres one, you need three more lol

Honest_Bob 03-19-2010 07:09 PM

You could talk about how you have a negative attitude towards assignments.. :-p

cmr076 03-19-2010 11:01 PM

what law school do you go to?

Rodimus_Prime 03-19-2010 11:34 PM

positive people dont live in the real world, realists (people that see the world for what it is) are called negative

Postitive people have a hard time accepting reality

Did I ask you what you thought of the situation? Didn't think so.... What I say and how I work are two completely different things. I do whatever it takes to finish the job and I basically do the job of two people at my work so obviously you know nothing about me. I also hold 3 jobs.

GmFwd 03-20-2010 09:09 PM

Turn the game around on the professor. Write about awkward stuff.

"I would tear that ass up if she didn't have a boyfriend"
"I might still try to tear that ass up"
"I get horny when writing papers"
