Buying MK2 Golf, need info
 

Thinking of picking up a 1990 white MKII Golf 4 door. Its dirt cheap and it will need some work for it to pass inspection.

I don't know to much about VW's. What are a few things to look at ? What to look for?


Checking it out on Saturday, from the pics doesn't look like there is much rust. I will probably by the clutch and struts new. Check the junkyards for the exhaust. He is currently driving to work, so it is driveable. The motor should be ok.


Are the exhaust and other parts like brakes, radiator, suspension and what not the same between the different motors that come in these cars?

MK2's are pretty solid cars. Proper maintenance by the PO is key to you having a good experience with it.

No, didn't get a chance to pick it up. Looks like he deleted the add to.


Called the guy and told him I wanted to buy it from him. We agree to meet up at 2:30pm the next day at his work. I pull up at 2:30 and the car comes rolling in. Some other guy was just taking her on a test drive. I asked the owner if the car has already been sold and he says yes. :bigeek: D***head! :mad: When I talked to him on the phone the night before he said nobody else has called about the car. Bull****..
