We closed on our house yesterday! Didnt have the keys for more then an hour and we were tearing out the wood paneling in the living room and hallway. Tearing down the drywall on the ceiling and walls, also gonna reinforce the wall where we hanging our tv. Will have pics posted later of the progress from yesterday and today. Now we heading to the house again! Washer and dryer getting delivered today.

congrats its an awesome experience we bought our first house a couple months ago and just like u it didnt take long till we were tearing walls out and changing everything lol. i had more fun working on the house then on my car for awhile but cant neglect the car to much lol

Well we back from the house. Made good progress today, all paneling is down in living room and hallway, made a bad discovery while ripping down drywall, quite a few studs have pretty bad termite damage. Only like 5-6 studs, 2 of which are on an exterior wall, sooo looks like that is more stuff we doing. We also decided that since walls will be stripped of drywall in the living room, we gonna put a opening in the wall to make a nice pass-through into the kitchen. Its gonna look good after its done. Also gonna replace as much wiring as possible while studs are exposed. Well time for rest, another full day tomorrow as taking rest of drywall down.

Be on the look out in spring for the date of big get together/ breaking the backyard in party.

.brian. 12-13-2009 09:57 AM

you said it had termite damage...were you not aware of this when you bought the house? if the seller knew, it should have been disclosed. if they didn't know, that means it was never treated. i would have someone come out and look at it either way. just my .02 - termites are no joke.

congrats on the purchase, it is a fun time!

karl 12-13-2009 10:44 AM

Well the visible termite damage was repaired prior to closing, the area that has damage is behind walls so nobody would have known. Its gonna get fixed so that's all that matters, just means we won't be in the house for a lil bit. I'm glad we found the damage now instead of having big problems later. So verizon coverage here sucks inside the house wtf...

lownslow95 12-13-2009 10:51 AM

I'm assuming since some damage was already repaired then the house was treated. If not PM me and I can get you a deal on a treatment.

Well good day at the house, only have 3 more studs to replace. Its amazing how much damage a lil bug can cause. Looks like we gonna replace the big window in the living room as well as the whole door and frame. Putting 4 recessed lights in living room and 2 or 3 down the hallway. Adding some additional outlets and running cat5 from office throughout house. Let's see what else... O upgrading electric service to 200 amp. Well once I get home from picking up our daughter from north brunswick ill post up whole bunch of pics.

karl 12-13-2009 11:42 PM

here are a bunch of pics i took the day we first looked at the house. stats on the house are as follow:
4 bedrooms
2 bathrooms
living room with fire place
kitchen with old cabinets but... with brand new LG stainless steel appliances after 12/27 when they delivered
attached garage was finished off so that's the kids play room
detached over-sized 2 car garage with attached workshop in back and little pot belly stove
house sits on just over .75 acres backing up to nothingness
