Anyone heard of the 24 hours of lemons?

So a few guys at work are talking about entering this, anybody else ever heard of it or are entering? Basically it's a 24 hour circuit race for cars that cost less then $500. There's a whole bunch of stipulations and such that you can read about on the site.

There was a few teams out of the PhillySCCA that ran this past year, check out the forums over there for some great info.

I'm definitely going to try a event in a few years when the babies are a little more self reliant.

I did two in 2009 and will be doing 4-6 in 2010. I race with Shumacher Taxi Service, which is mostly Philly SCCA guys.

Pix from the LeMons South, Spring 2009 event. STS fielded three cars; an MR2, a Corolla, and an Audi. I was on the 5th place finishing Audi team (there were 95 cars that took the green flag). On page 58/59 of the December 2009 issue of Grassroots Motorsports magazine is an picture I'm sitting in the #09 car in that shot as we get ready to roll off for the start of day 2.

If you have questions about running an event, or would like to get involved, visit the STS forum (linked above) and say hi or pm me. Between the team's cars we have run probably 12-18 cars (2-3 cars in 6+ events) over the last two years.

I've heard of that. I think Car & Driver did an article on it not too long ago.

Yeah there was a thread in here last year about trying to get a team together. Naturally it died.

My friend who works at Pratt & Miller in Michigan ran this race two years ago up there. Said it was hilarious. They did so much random crap and had hilarious penalties. They also rigged it to have a quick fuel system to it. Aka those big canisters you see in nascar that will fill the tank in aprox. 3 seconds.

i have wanted to do it ever since C&D did the article a few years back

turboman808 12-03-2009 12:40 AM

Been trying to get my friend to do it for years. I think we may end up doing one in 2010.

Fried? You also need a couple people on pit duty. I believe they ran 4 drivers and I think two extra for pit and obviously the divers helped too. It's not major pitt stopping but if something is screwing up, or you hit it's good to have extra hands. Plus who wouldn't wanna hear Cake's Going the Distance for 24 hours strait. lol
