Copper Spray?
uhm cometic metal head gasket came today. i need copper spray. anyone got it?
pleaseee. |
any napa should have it
You can get it at any auto parts store, but I would definately not reccomend it.
oh really? people have been telling me to use it. I didn't think an autoparts store would have it. i feel dumb..
It just makes a big mess, plus it's made for composite and fiber gaskets if I remember correctly. Are you using ARPs?
im using ARP head studs, cometic metal HG, and a fully rebuilt head if any of that matters.

that alone fixed my headgasket issues. |

Cometic themselves say you should use it. Most reputable machine shops also recommend it and all DSM guys use it...
It wont seal right if you don't theres nothing sealing the layers ask me how I know. |
how do you know? lol

you really should lol....
I had my head and block prepared for a metal gasket, didn't seal the metal gasket with copper spray and it leaked... took it back apart, had another shop check it and it was in spec, sprayed the gasket reassembled... no leaks... only thing changed was the spray! |
Hey, if it works for you guys, it works! Glad to hear it, but I'm just throwing in what I've heard.
damnit..i got my head all done..can i just use the copper stuff?
yeah you can... it should do the trick!
Feeler gauges and a straight edge. We'll check the decker, clean it, prep it, clean it again, seal the gasket and torque that effer on.
god im soo thankful for kevin hahha.
werd! good luck
