First Time at Track Tonight. Time slip[ on page 2
so tonight im going to the track for the first time ever, either atco or cecil county have open grudge/TnT sessions tonight. any one have any pointers or tips that will help? i excpet to do horrible but im gonna give it my best.

dare ya to beat patruck's time of 14.5 ;-)
|
i thought he was a 15 something, when he went?

Wetbox
Atco doesn't have a way to get around it so roll through SLOWLY and then do a light spin at the line to get the tires dry, a "burnout" doesn't do much for street tires, in some cases heats them up and makes them more slick and slippery. Length Atco has a weird setup. Just because you passed the time table doesn't mean the run is over, just keep on the gas until you hit 105 or so (well within your trap speed) and then slow down, don't worry, there's plenty of room (I've coasted down in gear from 100 to 20 with room to spare) GL John! |
thanks alex, ill be sure to let you know how i do. for my first time out, i wanna try to hit a low 15, i know im gonna launch horrible so im not gonna beat my self up to bad till after a few runs so i get the hang of it.
|
dont worry. I did awful my first time.. lol. first run i left my TC on and bogged lol..
|
lol i remember that, luckyily i dont have TC in my car, just a diff that will pull both wheels on the car 100%
|
all I remember from at least maple grove is that its sticky as ****... at least if its hot out. Since we are not High HP we wouldnt spin tires really on the track.. at least not that I could tell lol. if you get your timing right you could probably start going like miliseconds before you think the light is gonna turn green.. it goes fast.
|
i hear on the 3rd yellow go cuz by the time you react and go its green. if you go on green your pretty much screwed
|
Well u dont have to go on green thats only for bracket racing or if u want ur reaction time when
I go i always just sit there until i can get my launch control at the right rpm |
Don't even worry about the lights since its your first time. To many people get hyped up on them for no reason. Just go relaxed, take your time, and have fun.
|
now im debating on where to go tonight, i know atco gets a crazy amount of people there. what about cecil county? whats it like down there.
|
If you get there when gates open you should be able to get a good amount of runs in. I've never been to cecil so i can't comment, do you know how much it costs to run at cecil?
|
it says racers 15 bucks
crew/spectators 10 bucks. im thinking i might go there, cuz i know atco gets pretty busy. |
I went to Atco a couple weeks ago on a T&T morning and it was $35 to run the car....
Dont worry about the lights, Just stage the car and launch when your ready. I sat at the tree for 5 seconds last time trying to set up a better launch..... If the weather is good tomorrow, I may roll down in the morning if the weather is nice. If you get there early (9ish) then you can easily clip 3 runs in 15 mins.... Maybe I'll see you there? |

but yeah that sounds like a good idea, to get a feel for the way the car is gonna launch and then when i get a good idea, then work on my reaction times. thanks for the input guys. |
like i said let me know how you do..
