Oakes - Detailed: 2001 VW Jetta - Black Nightmare! *Check it out*
So, this may be a great example to explain a "Paint Corrective" detail to those who wonder what it exactly means...
This 2001 Jetta came to me as a daily driven, automatic car wash queen and you can clearly see the effects of that combo with it's age. The paint was almost deemed hopeless, and the original quest for the job was to bring back the gloss in the paint, miracles weren't expected here on the owner's part. However, I love to take on a project and see what I can do, and I can honestly say that while it could have come out better with more time and such, it came out better than I was expecting as well. I will let the pics do the talking this time! Process: Menzerna PowerGloss - Yellow Menzerna PowerFinish - Orange Menzerna SuperFinish - Green Blackfire Wet Diamond - Blue Collinite's No. 845 I would also like to thank Seven again for his assistance on this vehicle! These photos show the damage I was against after the wash, clay, rewash....quite a few of the defects/scratches were just too deep and while I was able to make them better, they still remained. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw026.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw028.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw030.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw035.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw032.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw034.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw058.jpg Logo on the trunk, the actual lettering wore off, this was the base/adhesive just baked into the paint. The first shot is before removing it and polishing the trunk. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw070.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw076.jpg This time, I took quite a few more 50/50 shots, and what a difference you can see :) I'll let the photos do the talking... http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw041.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw043.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw045.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw052.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw049.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw050.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw059.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw061.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw063.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw067.jpg A few paint photos under the spotlight after correction, like stated before, some deep defects still remained but quite a bit of them gone as you can see http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw069.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw078.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw051.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw069.jpg Reflection Photos http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw091.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw089.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw090.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw086.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw081.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw085.jpg Overall shots of the car, it was dark and the vehicle was leaving shortly, so no fancy outside photos this time. http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw092.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw093.jpg http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...agen/vw094.jpg Thank you for looking, Please comment! -Oakes |

wow speechless again....come this spring you will have my business no doubt...

This 150k mile roach belongs to my g/f. Not only is it a car wash queen since new, it sat at the NJ shore, on an ocean block every summer since new. Also, it never saw a garage, and sat in direct sunlight every day of its life.
His job blew away our expectations at every level. I bet Nick could have gotten it even nicer, but we were going out of town and needed the car that night. I cant wait to get the diff back in my Supra to bring it to Nick :) ps. I put new OEM center caps on so the car is 100% now. Recently replaced the headlights too...they looked as bad as the paint. |
wow, another very nice job, Nick.

cant wait to see pics of the gli that was dropped today.
