Quick question
 
today i installed a plug in play hid kit for my fogs and they both flicker and some times both of em even turn off i doubt the ballasts or the bulbs are bad and someone recommended me to get a relay for it. What do u guys think bad kit or i need a relay tommorow im gonna reinstall the whole kit switch the ballasts and bulbs around and mess with it firday im throwin on a relay but till then i would like some inputs

volkswagens always have problems with hid kits. we installed a hid kit in my one buddies mk4 r32 and he had the same problem another kid i know bought the oem ones for his mk4 r32 and it still does the same thing after spending $900 for his conversion. :confused:

With the MK5's, you need to use a VAG-COM to recode the controller for Bi-Xenon without shutter. Otherwise, the car is going to cut power once it see's a huge draw on that circuit (which is what is happening from the HID kit that you installed). We just had an 05 Passat in our shop yesterday with the very same problem. All it is is a simple VAG-COM recoding. I'd be happy to take care of it for ya. Shoot me a PM or phone call. 610-757-4649.
