So what do you guys think, USVI for a little or hang here?

Out of curiosity and because im still young ive been looking to get on a PD from another area and just see whats up, ive lived where I work all my life and never really ventured around. A friend of mine left and works in the Virgin Islands on St Croix and told me I should come spend a couple months down there, I called them and with my credentials I can start the end of the month right after the paperwork gets sorted out. My girl is the only thing that I would be "leaving" in PA and I don't plan on it being a permanent move maybe a year max just because I feel like doing it. So I don't really have any obligations or situations keeping me here and because I don't see it as a long term thing I think I might pull the trigger. What say you?

do it

I'd love to live in another area for a year or two... just to get a taste for another part of the world... even if its in our own country

Live it up while you can... as life goes on you only have more responsibilities and things tying you down, limiting options like this.
Find me a job down there while you're at it :)

do it. you'll regret passing up a great opportunity.

GOULET 08-04-2009 01:14 PM

DO IT!

sounds like a paid vacation to me

bastid 08-04-2009 02:01 PM

St. John is one of the nicest places I've ever vacationed at. I would highly recommend it.

Do it, i mean no matter how great your girl is.....well they CAN be replaceable. But if she is truely there because she loves you, she will allow this to happen.

I would do it, but i have a kid now...i wont leave my family, So i hope your decision is one that makes you happy.

KrautFed20V 08-04-2009 02:23 PM

do it, you only live once, and if you start to settle down soon, you're going to regret never getting out. I wish i had taken the job i was offered in Phoenix.

Sounds like a win win situation to me!

cszakolczai 08-04-2009 05:16 PM

Yeah I've been to St. Croix, you might not want to come home. I would try it out, and if you really want a change of scenery, try a new department when you get back. I understand the girlfriend thing though. But she can come visit and you can visit her.

ricky2i5 08-04-2009 05:23 PM

so far it looks like a unanimous decision....11-0

The USVI is a great place. I took a two week vacation there. 1 week in the USVI and 1 week in the BVI.

Rush 08-04-2009 07:19 PM

Do it.

And pack me in a suitcase so I can come along. I'm small. I'll fit in an oversized duffel bag.

I agree with what someone else said... it sounds like a paid vacation! I'll miss your post though and your responses to some of the stupidest questions crack me up

Seriously though, it sounds like one hell of a gig.
