CX Racing (ebay), hows the quality?
There has been a lot of talk about a new bolt on turbo for the MKIII community. However no one seems to have experience with it or a turbo from them in general. The quality looks great and price even better, however all we know it may not even be balanced for that price. It can be seen here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=190323038736
Anyone have first hand experience with CXRacing turbos? Obviously this seems too good to be true utilizing a new mostly stock turbine side, center section and completely different compressor side. I've gained more trust in cheaper ebay things though lately as production methods seem to be greatly improving in the past 4-5 years. edit: it does say computer balanced but still would be interested in hearing other peoples experiences. |
I have a cxracing fmic. Build quality is awesome and they even had decent CS. Everything was obvi fob from china but still good. I would be weary of something as complex as a turbo though.

Cxracing makes good stuff, the only thing I would never buy is an "ebay" turbo. I've heard many horror stories.

same company as godspeed

we've used a few of their intercoolers... they're good.

^never heard of them

oh, surprising ...make rads, intercoolers, etc.
i know of 2 1jz mk3s using the cxracing radiator without issues. |
Well as everyone else said, their "non moving" parts are fine. But for a turbo, I would HIGHLY suggest NOT using anything from ebay. I've heard of some people having great luck with ebay turbos (FazdaGT for example made a lot of power on an ebay turbo on his probe) but I've heard a lot more bad things then good, and I personally wouldn't take the chance. The turbo is one of the most important things on a performance car, why cut corners and go cheap? Save up and get a gt series or something like that. If an intercooler or a radiator breaks or goes bad, big whoop, you lose boost or lose coolant, not a big deal. (as long as you catch the coolant in time lol). If a turbo blows up, you might as well kiss your motor goodbye.

I've seen a number of honda guys have success with the ebay t3t4 turbos. they arent as big as they're usually listed - but i havent personally seen one fail.
Would i run one on my car? NO |
Keep in mind, wasn't planning on buying one seriously. Just wondered about the quality if anyone had tested them. Everyone HEARS stories but who actually has first hand knowledge of failure. Not to mention you will hear much more about a complete failure than success.

Everybody is scared to run them! lol

I've seen two ebay turbos last 15K+ miles for several years on cars that were driven, tracked, and beat on daily... (fazda's turbo probe, and blue240sx's s13)
i think it's hit or miss really. but as far as piping, all of the cx racing stuff i've used has been great... we've got a huge box of it at our shop. |
