Decision time..

i know how good everyone on here is good with giving opinions and helping people out. so, i'm at a cross road, my daily(92 saturn sl2, auto) should be where i want it. now here's my thing..

should i save up for a car with better aftermarket..or

save, pick up another saturn, and turbo it.

i have no problem saving money. so..opinions are very welcome. what should i do?

abrok99 07-19-2009 06:27 PM

get a new car and boost that.

Personally, i'd move away from the saturns, but that's probably because they're not an attractive car to me at all.

Depends what you want to do with it...

Are you looking for a boosted car, and in F/R/AWD? What you buy dictates what your gonna do with it... If you just want a daily, get some boosted honda, quick and cheap. They can be wicked fast. RWD isn't really viable as a daily. Winter sucks; period.

AWD is kinda pricier and throws you back into the daily category. Are you looking to do some kind of aggressive driving like autox/gymkhana/drift? Then choose accordingly.

Whats your budget going to be? If you want a car that is just going to be stupid amounts of fun, get a 240. Haters can suck it; the S chassis platform is a blast and you can do ANYTHING you want with it.

For a blast in the AWD territory, check out F/I swapped GC8s. AWD with no weight is killer fun.

im gonna keep the saturn as a daily..get rid of the 17's, go with a smaller rim/tire, 15's more than likely, maybe pwdercoated stockers..

as for the new car, ill eventually wanna auto-x or road race type of things with it, but still be able to drive it on a daily bases in the summer. 240 is a strong consideration. idk what else, im gonna stay away from hondas/acuras cuz at college, prime for the picking.

Renegade_ 07-19-2009 06:38 PM

Whats your budget? There's got to be a price range; certain types of cars are only worth it if you can throw X dollars at them.

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 06:57 PM

around 10,000 for the car.

ImportTunr239 07-19-2009 06:59 PM

that rwd 240 gonna hurt in snow :(, nice drift platforms though had a friend with an S14 real clean

ImportTunr239 07-19-2009 07:02 PM

personally i'm a honda fan i like what renegade said, go integra LS and go for boost, you can build your own turbo for fairly cheap

Renegade_ 07-19-2009 07:04 PM

10 grand?

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 07:17 PM

ell, id mostly drive the car in the summer, no winter action, thats what the saturn would be for. as for an integra, id go with an early style body, idk what year. maybe an earlier prelude.

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 07:18 PM

id jump on it, but no way to alabama haha

CleanNeon98 07-19-2009 07:29 PM

If you do get another Saturn, get it because it actually has what you want, not just for the sake of having another Saturn in the driveway.

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 07:37 PM

if i did go with another saturn, i strip off everything and re-build it from the ground up.

That wasn't what I was getting at.

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 07:44 PM

Get a platform that you want, don't just buy another Saturn because it's a Saturn. I hate fanboys for example guys who only buy Hondas and their reasoning is "cause Honda is the best"...ok toolbag, but you do know that there are better pickups than the Ridgeline, right..."nah **** you dude, Honda for life"...don't turn into one of those lol

sleeperSL2 07-19-2009 07:58 PM

haha OH. i got ya. no i wouldnt do that. i honestly havent ridden in a car thats, fast persay, or thats heavily modified. haha if i have maybe this decision making would be easier i guess

CleanNeon98 07-19-2009 08:02 PM

I can give you a ride in my car..its not particularly fast, and is pretty gay, but if its something you may be interested in drive mine and see if you want to put a Miata on your list of possible cars, not that I'm trying to convince you to get one, they certainly aren't for everyone.

I would say save up.
