Total Newbie (car pics)
Well, not actually. Anyway, I got invited to last night's meet by 2 guys here, and I'm not sure what they're names are on here, so I'll just refer to them as the Silver and Blue Saturn Redlines.
Anyway, names Clint, and I drive a 1999 Blackberry (or purple, take your pick) Saturn SL2. Current mods include: -AEM Short Ram Intake -OBX Tri-Y Header w/ Downpipe -2.25" HKS Cat-Back exhaust -H&R 1.5" Sport Springs -KYB-GR2 Gas Powered Struts -A/C removed Future mods are: -Tenzo Rally Seats (purchased, should be here next week) -MP7 to MP2 swap (purchased) -2.25" Magnaflow Carsound Cat (yeah, I'm running a stock cat. Swapping this out tomorrow.) -16x7 Motegi MR8's wrapped in BFG Traction T/A's (soon to be purchased...killer deal) -Full rebuild on forged internals, 8.5CR coupled with an equal length tubular header, experimental port/polish head with experimental valve grind for minimum flow of 15psi, experimental super-hot cams, experimental intake manifold, ATA i/c with an NX cooler kit, T3/T66 hybrid turbo pushing 20psi minimum, swap from autotragic mp7 to first generation mp2 manual with a Quaife ATB diff (taller gears for better traction, as the guys running just 10psi spin from 75-110 in third because our cars are way light). Currently, the fastest S body saturn revs to 8500. It's estimated that my build will hit 10k, spool at 3k, and not run out of juice until redline. Aiming for the 450-500whp barrier, as our fastest has 421whp. And now for pictures (these are fairly old): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...mycarstock.jpg Back when my car was completely stock. Those plastic hubcaps look like crap. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0047.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0048.jpg 2 random engine bay shots http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0041.jpg OBX header just installed http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0046.jpg OBX downpipe http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0045.jpg Custom AIR piping (worthless) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0044.jpg Stupid hippy emissions AIR pump. Currently making my car glow with a high performance SES light. (Swapping in a 98 computer so I can ditch it.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../HKSassend.jpg HKS pumpkin shooter http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0050.jpg +50hp licenseplate frame  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...k/DSCF0051.jpg Awesome head unit...you know you want one. http://xwarlordx.com/99sl2_modder/My.../030505-06.jpg Yeah, my car's dirty...bite me. (post drop and hubcap removal) http://xwarlordx.com/99sl2_modder/My.../030505-07.jpg Post drop front shot with a friends 6cyl Camaro. The picture doesn't do it justice. It's about 2" lower than the camaro's front end (excluding the airdam) http://xwarlordx.com/99sl2_modder/My.../030505-08.jpg Another rearend pic. http://xwarlordx.com/99sl2_modder/My.../030505-12.jpg The dirt/mud/salt on my car is because this jerk bear so jacked my ride. So that's me anyway. I'll get more at some point. The tone of my exhaust for anyone that hasn't heard it is actually fairly deep. The comment I got was that you hear a slight buzzing that gets a little louder, then blows your eardrums as it passes, and then get's quieter. I wouldn't know, since I drive it. It should be deeper tomorrow when I finish opening the exhaust (2.25"->1.73"->2.25", currently. The cat is a bit restrictive.) |
I would be interrested in seeing a really built Saturn.
Looks like you really have your plan in place, good luck with it. Welcome to the club. :partyman: |
Hey Man welcome to the site. I was the one kinda running the meet up at P-mark last night. I had the loud grey car. Hope to see ya out there on Thursdays.

Cool beans mang. The guys you were invited by were BluebulletRL and SilverbulletRL.
Nice to see anothe new member that isn't a DSM... :wiggle: |
Thanks guys.
Yeah, I'm just gettin around to buying a daily beater while this car is getting built. I have to make it as street legal as possible, since Saturns are a bit fickle when you start changing crap around. Probably a TecII or III or MS2 to take care of timing and feul, and I have to have 1000cc injectors for the power. There's a buy-in for some forged rods (350 for H beams that can handle somethinkg like 200hp/rod...not bad, since my block can't handle 800bhp, and you can't post it) but I don't think I'll make cutoff, cause there's more important stuff I need to get done to the car first. 350 seems like a lot to most people, but since everything on a Saturn is odd sized and there's next to no aftermarket, we kinda get screwed. Crower rapes us for 750ish for a set of 4 I-beams that can handle 250hp/rod, and our pistons are 500 all around for any bore size with rings. I'm not sure who I've kinda met, and who I haven't met. I went up to the Pathmark to start, and kinda got left behind because of Route 1 traffic. Anyway, I hope to be able to make it to the meets every thursday. Saw a lot of clean rides, and it just gave me a little more motivation to get my ass in gear to build. |

Nothing is wrong with DSMs. Hey maybe I can ever get a ride in one or a race against you sometime if Chris isn't going to run ya. I won't be upset loosing to a girl.
Yeah we pretty much meet up at P-mark every thursday around 7:45 and leave around 8 to head up. RT1 traffic is a pain. We kinda came in together. The one kid in the truck went the wrong way and a lot of people followed him lol. See ya around. |
