Has anyone broken there collar bone?

I think i may have broken it. But im tryna make sure 100% before i go to the hospital, since I dont have med insurance.

So if you have, what symptoms did you have. I know your shoulder kind of hangs low, which mine isnt, but the bone on my chest is kind of bulging.

mg23 07-12-2009 09:08 PM

SH!t man. I almost cried when i saw this thread. Someone refer PoolMike to this thread. How sad is it that you are in pain, yet you're scared to go to A HOSPTIAL [FOR CHRISTS SAKE] because you don't pay $100 ransom to some insurance conglomerate....

A description of what happened to cause the injury might help in diagnosing. But it sure sounds like you have a break somewhere. I feel for you if you do have to go to the hospital and pay out-of-pocket... thats gonna be a BIG bill man.

no, me and my buddy always practice grappling on the ground, but we were a little drunk, and he had me in an armbar, and i picked him up while he had my arm, and I slammed him. I felt a pop/crack like right under my peck.

He weighs 230, i weigh 140. I hate how I am. I train everyday, and I get in fight mode, and feel no pain.

and im more worried about missing work without pay

Pig STi 07-12-2009 09:18 PM

i did last year:

you'd swell up immediately if you did. Mine also hung low. I heard it crack when it happened. Does the bones sound like its cracking or anything when you move it up and down? I had a lot of crunching lol. I ended up driving myself to the ER. It didn't hurt at all honestly, but i have an insanely high pain tolerance.

Willdue 07-12-2009 09:20 PM

ive felt some cracks today, but i thought it would be from being stiff/sore. Im not swolling anywhere. But the clavical is a little more perplexed then the other.

you won't miss any work if you get it put in a sling or this crazy arm band i wore. It wrapped around my stomach and had a strap that went around my forearm to hold the whole arm in place. It sucked because i had to have my mom dress me lol

100% positive you broke it. I don't care how much it'll cost you, you need to go to the ER asap. If you don't go it'll never heal right.

I suggest maybe if you know someone who can get you a sling if you absolutely can't afford it, to get you one. You might not have to go to the hospital then. But i don't reccommend that lol.....It takes 6-8 weeks to heal.

3rdGenMr2Girl 07-12-2009 09:24 PM

i broke mine. i was in INTENSE pain and my shoulder hung low. i could hear the bones crunching around and when you touched the bone you could clearly feel it was broken. ughh i've broken 11 bones and that one was by far the worst.

Ive touched it a few times today, and it...wow. I just touched it, its broke.

3rdGenMr2Girl 07-12-2009 09:28 PM

go to the hospital. really. it doesn't matter how much it costs. they needed to set mine so that it wouldn't heal all funky.

Willdue 07-12-2009 09:30 PM

trust me, im going. What payment plans they have? Ive never had this issue.

Im def going bc im a boxer, and im not throwing that away.m

PIG, did you have neck pain to?

Pig STi 07-12-2009 09:38 PM

yes i did. Like a slept on it wrong feeling kinda. And yes they can put it in a sling, but honestly that brace was awesome.

Also listen to 3rdGen- yea i left mine go because i didn't want surgery. Its 2" shorter on the left side now and my shirts fit weird lol. They healed on top of each other, i have a huge lump.

Willdue 07-12-2009 09:40 PM
