This news might come as a shock for Subaru fans but the iconic Japanese carmaker has some serious plans for the next Impreza.
Subaru gave a hint of what to expect of the Impreza replacement at the Tokyo Motor Show where the carmaker unveiled the radical looking B5 concept car.
The B5 shows Subaru's distinctive new design direction and it featured the company's new aeroplane-shaped grille.
Although the speedometer of the concept car is digital the B5's rev-counter takes centre position in front of the driver as with the current Impreza STi.
Looking at the B5 there is no doubt that Subara will aim at taking the next Impreza more upmarket. It will also be more of a looker than the current range, however, Subaru will ensure that it has the same road presence.
But the next Impreza won't be about looks alone. Subaru is also serious about improving driving dynamics and performance even more.
Subaru will continue using turbocharged flat-four engines but the carmaker could go green with its next Impreza.
The B5 concept comes with a revolutionary 2-litre boxer engine with a hybrid system. This engine is officially referred to as the Turbo Parallel Hybrid (TPH) and kicks out more than 220 kW(295Hp)!
