99% Sure my neighbor is Dealing -- what to do?

Background:

Since I moved into my house 3 years ago, this guy has barely had a real job. Just a few odd/part-time bartending and cooking jobs... sporadically. Guy is like 35, "owns" his house by himself (I assume), drives a nice but older model Lexus, is constantly going out (to bars - I go out occasionally, and randomly see him all over town). I've seen him come home late-night from bars, dragging at least 50 skanky, ugly bar sluts home w/ him over the last 3 years...

Now: He's been out of work for at least the last 6 months.... just sits at home all day long, goes out nearly every nite. I asked him about work he said "not working. Don't really feel like it right now. Maybe I'll wait till the economy picks up. Just collecting my unemployment checks...."

All kinds of shady dudes stop by randomly throughout the day, park out back in the alley, go inside for like 10 minutes, are back out and gone. A couple times, he's been not home, one of his buddies stopped by and went in, some other shady guy (whom I know personally as a former dealer) stops by, runs in for 3 minutes, and then the both leave....

Last night, my best friend tells me he was talking to one of his friends and a 3rd party, happened to mention my street, his friend mentions my neighbor as someone he knows on the street, the 3rd party mentions that he "heard _____ is dealing coke and pot". My friend's friend is a coke-user, so i'm thinking thats probably where he gets it from.

So, my issues, first off is that I have a kid and don't want a coke-dealer living next door to me. I don't want to mistakenly get wrapped up in any possible ish that might go down. We live in duplexes, so someone could easily mistake my house for his. 2nd, it really ticks me off that this dude just sits on his arse all day long doing jack squat, and yet still apparently makes money to pay his mortgage, utilities, taxes, and still have enough to live a lavish life-style... really makes me want to phone-in an anonymous tip to the local PD.

Should I, or not? what u think

dude if you were my neighbor id smack you. Most people that DO deal dont wanna get involved with the people around them anyhow, they def wont bring the **** around the kids. I know from experience. And i have people stop by my house for 10 minutes here and there doesnt mean im dealing

RSX Type-Slow 06-25-2009 01:52 PM

call the popo and get that stuff off the streets man. drugs are stupid

lownslow95 06-25-2009 01:55 PM

Do as you said call in as anonymous person, and sit back and watch the drug bust go down, if there is one at least. :)

you have no idea how the guy makes money. maybe he hit the lotto a few years back and is just enjoying life. dont be hatin.

RSX Type-Slow 06-25-2009 02:02 PM

when i was a kid living in philly, the dude across the street was a dealer. while my fam was having a lil bbq out front on a nice saturday afternoon, swat team came and bustied into his house.

Those dudes are friggin ninjas. they literally came out of nowhere, busted down the door yelling and screaming, and 5 seconds later he was cuffed and taken away.

Then the cops were there all day removing guns, money, and drugs from the house. it was intense and I would definately not want my kids around that stuff.

i mean honestly unless he is coming over to your house and saying let me smoke your kid up, i would mind my own business, dealers get caught on their own no need to interfere.

and about the "ticked because he sits on his arse all day and doesnt work" deal, think about all the unemployed people doing the same. then think, oh im in the United states. where working doesnt pay off, getting paid to sit around while someone else does.

RSX Type-Slow 06-25-2009 02:12 PM

i'm currently unemployed but i refuse to take unemploymet checks. it feels morally wrong to take from another hard working person.

agoodall 06-25-2009 02:12 PM

I would maybe just ask the police to see if they could start patrolling the neighborhood more b/c you "think" there is something going on, but other then that i would keep out of it, if he is dealing it will come back and bite him no need to drag yourself into a bad situation...Good luck

tavenger5 06-25-2009 02:14 PM

I wouldn't want shady ass people coming from who knows where buying drugs from next door. If he's going to deal he should be smart about it and not do it out of his house. That's just stupid and attracts all kinds of bad attention. I would call the cops based on his ****ty, lazy attitude.

RSX Type-Slow 06-25-2009 02:15 PM

imagine if a drug deal went wrong, then the dude that got screwed knows where the dealer lives. I wouldn't wanna wake up at 3am and hear gunshots, or fire, etc.

and drug dealers aren't known for being the smartest people on the planet.......

i dont mind if the person is actually trying to find a job while on unemployment, but alot of people just want to milk it because its free money. who would want to turn that down, you know. ill help my fellow americans, just not the lazy scumbags that arent looking for jobs, nor care about getting a job.

The cops wouldn't just break down the door without cause - they'd investigate first, get a warrant, maybe bust someone coming out of the house first, etc.

and you think the guy in the house wont notice this? you think he wont move all that he has out of there? c'mon, and this is even if he is dealing, there is no solid proof besides people coming and going.

i have people coming and going from my house all the time, and i dont sell drugs. people just stop by. it happens.

I'd say check with other neighbors for suspicion. If they agree it doesn't look right either, I'd do an anonymous call for them to get an undercover.

:bigeek: Umm you do realize that you would be taking back the money you have paid into the system and will continue to pay into for the rest of your life right? You and the company you worked for paid into this system in the event you would need to use it, if you choose not to then you are just allowing someone else to live off of your past hard work.

I would relay my suspicions to the police through and anonymous call and trust that they won't act without just cause.
