Nice, I like the deep contrast on shot number #1,

What where the camera settings on lightening shot, shutter, etc.?

Nick Merrone 06-05-2009 01:45 PM

3 and 4 are amazing.

The Lightning was a 3 second exposure. It was a good storm with strikes going off about once a minute. I set up on the side of the road and just kept snapping the 3 second shots until one captured what I wanted. TOTAL snaps was about 320 but I got this shot in the first 10.

You can spend as much as you like on a camera but taking good photos comes from your mind first. I have seen guys spend thousands and not produce anything great and I have seen Gallery ART shot with Point and Shoots.

It took me years to get to my level and I still do not feel I am "great" - Average at best...

I use a D50 and have never had a need for more. When I do, I will upgrade but I would rather spend money on lights and lenses.

im curious as to what kinda photoshop editing you did to the ones that are not black and white such as the second, 7th, and 8th pics. also the railroad picture.

they have a certain look or sharpness to them that i really like.

I do not like to do a lot of PS.

I shoot landscapes at F18 or higher for depth. The camera is set to Vivid and all I do in PS is remove distractions and totally blow out the contrast.

Most of the color shots are true color and done with the proper lense filters.

What is grabbing your attention is the super high contrast. I like my blacks... really black.
