Why cars F'ing suck.

So, I get a call today from my buddy who is working on my car at his shop. He leaves me a message with some bad news. I have eight....yes EIGHT cracked retainers. One destroyed valve, and who knows what else.

Now, I'm forced to spend even more money this month on getting the head built. It is a good thing, and a bad thing at the same time. Good- I was planning on building the head anyways. Bad- Another 1500 down the drain during the holidays.

This motor build has cost WAY too much. I should have just bought a Vette...

That sucks man. It will be awsome when it's done though.

TalonTsi97 12-07-2005 08:43 AM

Yea in the end you will be happy, well hopefully. I cant wait to see the finished project myself.

I may be able to get a sponsorship from a shop out here that does headwork. Some discounted stuff would be really sweet.

I will be the first, fully built all motor S2k though. So, that is kind of cool I guess.

Didn't you blow the original motor?

LSHatch 12-07-2005 12:34 PM

Yes. The head is from the original motor. It's been a long process fixing this thing.

TROLL 12-07-2005 12:48 PM

it WILL be cool
bryan

I know how that goes....

My DSM sat for almost two years after I destroyed the last motor/turbo setup and decided to go with a stroker, fully built motor setup.

My motor came from Canada and took 6 months to build cause pauter wasn't making anymore rods for my car at the time I had money for it. Then it took a month to ship cause it got stuck at customs. So when I finally got it I sent the head to the machine shop which took a month or so. Getting other special parts takes a lot of time as well. Then came the baby and I had no time left to finish. Then we moved....

lol.

Now a days, the car sits a lot for lack of motivation. Why hurry to put it back together just to blow it up again, lol. I wish I had endless cash flow, time and energy.

PM me if you get that done, S2K would make a nice feature car!

D Money 12-07-2005 02:06 PM

Aww man dude. That sucks. **** happens that we cant control, just think how sick it will be when you build it. Arent the rears the things that go in s2ks?

LSHatch 12-07-2005 02:51 PM

igo4bmx= They were OEM retainers. The head was all stock. I'm going to switch over to Titanium now.

George= I think I told you the story before. Nitrous+stock plugs+ no patience= blown motor. The stock plugs destroyed themselves from the juice. Oh well. A big lesson learned.

2point4= It sucks doesn't it? I hate just having the thing sitting there. Especially after each thing I take apart, more is needed to fix or upgrade.

BradC= Hey, if you want to come out to Vegas, be my guest. haha.

wrxkid= The rears break from idiots driving them. I've had over 100 7k+ launches on the car and the rear is in perfect condition. Will I upgrade the rear? At some point I will. I really want to see this thing on slicks, and the stock rear definitely can't take that stress.

Yeah that would be cool as hell man. I know some kid that is going to "eventually" put a supercharger on. I would love to see both, S2k's can be a very quick car.

sfd 12-07-2005 03:00 PM

what are you having done to the head thats costing $1500?

2point4DSM 12-07-2005 03:15 PM

I had mine cut on a CNC machine. The valve seats were cut for the 1mm. I had them done before but the other shop didn't do such a great job. The valve height was all over the place and had to be fixed. And then with all the other little stuff that right there is an easy $1500 if you count all the parts too. And that doesn't even include the port and polishing, which I did myself, lol.

"Stage 2" port and polish. I hate calling stuff by stages.
Valve Job
New valves
retainers
springs
seals

Well, this build should easily whip up on a supercharged S. We'll see though. I don't like to get my hopes up.
