Fixing the fuel Filler neck on a 98 Legacy GT

So my girlfriends younger sister has a 98 Legacy GT and it looks like the filler neck is leaking near the connection to the tank. Anyone have any experience or information on what it takes to get at that. One mechanic told us that basically the whole rear suspension needs to be dropped. That seemed a bit excessive. Any ideas or links would be appreciated.

just throw a weld bead around it. (kidding please dont do that)

i think on that car the suspension does come out and the filler till bold in and out just replace it. dont quote me but im pretty sure thats how it is

Yeah I talked with Ryan at 1320 and it is the whole back end that comes out.
