so i started automotive school today....
So yea i started at ATC , Automotive Training Center in Warminster Pa. My first 8 week course (out of 18 months ) is Suspension & Steering. Its pretty sweet. Im real siked about goin. There is 19 Lifts and a engine dyno and a whp dyno. So im thinking of buying a 1g eclipse/talon with a blown motor and rebuilding it in school, and dynoing it and ****, before i put it in. But yea i had to drop $1,400 in tools, but it was worth it. I got almost every tool i could possibly need besides a mig welder, which im purchasing in a few weeks. There is 2 professional paint booths and 2 prep booths which im welcome to use FREE OF CHARGE, i cant wait ... until i have a car to paint :o
O, and if anyone wants to use the dyno, or use a lift to work on your car. I have access to any shop equiptment M-F 2pm - 5pm. So yea, let me know. And within 8 weeks im taking my test and i will have my inspection license which kicks ass, so i can go get a job at a dealership! |
sweet I still got a year and ahalf left of auto.. but sapposably internships coming early 06
|
good luck bro - wish you had the shop for longer hours...

WHP dyno, eh? You should hit me up on AIM so we can get a setup day for a dry-run on the turd. |
nice john sounds like fun. i think greddy is going there next spring
|
But is he going to the one is warminster?
|
i highly doubt he is starting in the spring. Maybe the spring of 07. Every "year" is 18 months there. Atleast thats what i think. dont know how they could make any more classes. Every class is filled and they have 7:30-1:30 classes which i take, and then there are 5-9:30 classes at night. But yea, thats cool if he is gonna go.
As for the whp dyno, you gotta let me get to that class. So i know how to work the dyno. Plus im not sure they might not let me use it unless i have proper training. So, at the least, i need 8 weeks until im done S&S. After that i dont know what class im taking, hopefully its the dyno class. Maybe we could have a tst meet there and dyno some cars, haha. |
Awesome! When you take your paint course and want a car to practice on my Blazer definately needs some TLC...I can pay for the paint too
|
Cool Man, Yeah maybe see if they will let us use the dyno for cheap, or even if we all showed up they could maybe get some people interested in their place. I'm sure everyone on here would throw in some money for dyno runs and food or something. Good luck in school.
|
i think i asked you before but i forget the answer... is this an AWD dyno?
pleasesayyes bryan |
awesome! how much is tuition, if you don't mind saying? i have always considered doing that... if not for a career, just to see if i could maybe to take night classes just to expand my knowledge...

i attached a quick pic i took with my phone today of some of the lifts. this place is so massive. you could park 100+ cars in there. There is 2 other bays this size. But yea, its just so you guys get a idea of what it looks like.
|
cool man congrats on getting in to a school. I will most likely do the same when I get out (AF) but I have a few years before then.
|
i graduated from the one in Exton almost 3 years ago(March) S+S is a nice course, you'll align a ton of cars, lol. and you get your State Inspection license..which will no doubt be lost in the mail when sent to you, as mine was, twice.
overall its a nice school, your one of hte first or 2nd groups in that building, half the teachers i think came from the old location. i think when i went, Tuition was a little under 18K...may have been less. by the looks of that picture, its gone up at least 10K, lol. its a nice school to go to though, alot of the West Chester/Exton area shops only hire "kids" from there.. half of my shop are all graduates. only a few came from other dealers. please dont let them pound into your head that your gonna make 80K a year after you graduate. thats a complete joke, no matter how much you think you can do it, you cant. automatic transmission class is cool.. you'll learn that you can literally write an entire text book in 8 weeks, and still have use of your hand. if you want to learn about this stuff, dont spend the money on the tuition, buy hte books from graduates. |

I still enjoy my Pennco Tech.

yea, its clean.
as for the other grad. yea, tuiton is exspensive. yea they told me 30k is average pay when you graduate. And im the first class to be going here. i waited over 2 years to go here. and its about time i started. but yea, everything is clean and sparkly hahaha. |
