Hawk with lunch (bloody)

I took a trip next door to Valley Forge park to try and find a hawk or two. This one let me follow it around as it hunted, ate lunch, then flew off into the park. All were with the D3 and 300 2.8.

Thanks. I really like the last too. The grasses make the shot.

It was actually a mouse. 4 bites and it was gone.

I did have it on at first, but with these shots I had to take it off because I got so close (~20 feet).

Yes, it is the Nikon 300 2.8 AF-S (non VR).

At first, it was a little skittish. After an hour or so, it got used to me following it around watching it hunt. I tried to coax it to fly by getting really close, but it just sat there.

Yeah Bryan, just the 300. I had to actually back away from the hawk to get a good comp on the bird at times. I was pleased with the results.

james_ls 01-27-2009 07:57 PM

You and these birds are friggin unbelievable.

This, I think, is my favorite "set" to date.

namdoogwerdna 01-27-2009 08:12 PM

Great set Rich!

DPancoast 01-27-2009 08:39 PM
