Map ecu 2
|
I've installed a MAP ECU (original) on my Supra TT, but we haven't started the car up yet. I'm interested in learning more about it as well, but if you have any specific questions maybe I can help answer them...

Well I know the MAP ECU 1 is good for the OBDI car and can be used on the OBDII but may not work well in controlling timing. I have read that the MAP ECU2 is good for the OBDII and I and controls timing as well as fuel making it the better alternative than the Greddy or AEM piggy back units. I was going to get the AEM but have heard people having issues with the car turning over on the 1st crank and takes up to 5 cranks. I don't think for 400hp I need a stand alone so I want to give a piggyback a chance first.

I believe that the MAP ECU 1 and 2 behave exactly the same when it comes to fueling adjustments, its just that the 2 adds many other features like timing and boost control, 2 maps, launch control, etc. The 1 only controls fuel and that is it.
Are you NA-T or TT swap? From what I'm told, the NA-T is difficult to convert to MAP because of the AF meter it has from the factory, and it makes tuning very difficult and finicky. This is the reason a lot of NA-T guys go with a standalone since there aren't any other great options (I think?). On a TT it is easy and effective to convert the factory MAF system to MAF so you're good there. On either version of the piggyback you'll have issues with OBD2 cars wanting to relearn over the fuel adjustments you've made, I dont think this makes any difference between a 1 or 2. From what I'm told, if you're at 700 whp or below, there's no need to get into timing tuning, meaning that unless you want launch control, 2 maps, or any of the other features the 2 offers, then a 1 may be sufficient. That is what I based my decision off of. |

I hear good things about map ecu, but i haven't had any real experience so i can't really be too much of help. Sorry! |
Hmmmm...maybe I'll do the AEM F/IC then and just save up a little more for the stand alone.
|
I ran a safc II for ****s and giggles before i went AEM then to Geforce because AEM kind of sucked...
|
I was gonna go to MAP ECU, but I learned that MAP ECU 2 does not truly have timing adjustments.
