A question for all of the 240sx owners on the site

Are you genuinely a 240sx enthusiast or are you a bandwagoner? How long have you owned your 240? Or when did you get your first 240? And how do you determine who is a bandwagoner? Me personally, I dont know about myself. I wouldn't really consider myself a band wagoner. I've owned 240's since I was 17, I'm almost 21 now, and this is my 4th 240. I've had an 89 SOHC hatch, an 89 sr20 coupe, a 95 base model, and now my 93. What about you? Which are you and why?

FazdaGt 01-18-2009 06:32 PM

I've had seven. two s13 hatches, two s13 coupes, two zenkis and a lone kouki.

started with them in 2005 right after high school when i wasn't poor anymore.

I am guilty of financially benefiting from the bandwagon, but i got into the "scene" through friends back then.

240sxDann 01-18-2009 06:51 PM

lol jason, your a given 240 OG

drifty240 01-18-2009 07:01 PM

I have had only one 240 but its been forever. I can remember being down on del ave when this kid showed me his red 240 that he had just put in an sr20. ANy one to guess this kids name " Matt " , yes Matt from Import Inttlegance..... I wish i could find pics of that night, my red coupe with white wheels :)

as for being on the bandwagon , na....

CleanNeon98 01-18-2009 07:03 PM

Dann, do you think a bandwagon jumper would ever admit it?

240sxDann 01-18-2009 07:12 PM

No buts thats why I also asked how long have you had your 240 or when did you get your first one.

89RBS13 01-18-2009 07:14 PM

i bought mine in '04, before any of the more recent drift hype as i stated in the other 240 post. not super OG, but also not bandwagon. i never went through lots of them, i've always had the one i have. it's my daily drivers that i've changed... one of which was an automatic '92 S13. i never put any money into that one though.

To me it shouldnt matter how long you've had a certian car or how long you've been "in the scene". What matters is HOW your in the scene and whether or not you built/building a clean car or actually use it. The band wagon jumpers and trendies will be gone soon dont worry. Be thankfull for them though because when they are gone you can all buy their parts for cheap.

FazdaGt 01-18-2009 08:08 PM

I agree with you completely there...

I've always bought, driven, and modded my 240's to my liking for daily use. So I guess technically I've never really been into the scene of 240's, just the car itself.

Man, scene is a terrible word. I'm embarrassed I even used it.

I'm not a "Drifter" by any means, I just enjoy the look and feel of the cars a lot...every time I sell one I find myself searching for another soon therafter.

Ive had mines since about 2002-03. I just always loved the look of em. They are becoming the new civic though.

I don't think its possible for them to become the new civic. One not enough were made and two most have been killed in a tragic drifting accident:supz:

I don't remember exactly how I was introduced to a 240SX all I know is when I saw one, I fell in love with the coupe. This was long before I even knew what drifting was. If I remember right, it was '05 or '06 when I learned wat drifting was, if it was even that long ago ad no, it wasn't because of The Faast and the Furious .

I've never drifted my car. I didn't buy it to drift, I bought it because I love it. I love the pop up headlights and the flat rear end and the fact that I can do almost anything I want with it.

As CleanNeon said, the bandwagon jumpers are not going to raise their hand to promote that they bought a 240 because it's the "cool" thing to do.

drifty240 01-18-2009 10:36 PM

OMGJACKI, you are such a 240 rookie and i say that in the nicest way..... Having a a 240 far from a love, it more like ike and tina tuner.... Once you own a 240 for a good amount of time you will develop such a love hate relationship :)

omgjacki 01-18-2009 10:52 PM

Well when I first saw them they were just another car, but it was my favorite. I didn't know aything about them. A friend of mine bought one and I was driving it everywhere. I learned about their issues real fast. Before I had my own I had driven a few, and knew many people that had them. It stil didn;t change my opinion.

I already have a love/hate relationship with this thing. I hate it when it breaks down in the middle of 611 in 5* weather. I hate it everytime I'm near the passanger side ad I catch a glimpse of that eyesore of a quarter panel. Or when I'm parallel parking and there's a line of powersteering fluid following my car into the parking spot.

It still puts a smile on my face though.

I bought a 240 to jump on the bandwagon...and sold it 2 weeks later because i realized how gay it was.

Goddabob 01-18-2009 11:59 PM

I'll admit that finding this site brought back my urge to get a 240sx.
Also finding a sweet deal, which is turning into a nightmare lol.

i fell in love with my dads 97 240 ever since i first drove it and knew nothing about 240's then i winded up buyin it,did donuts, started to learn to slide it,made it faster, then sold it like a idiot and kickin myself in the ass everysingle day for selling it dirt cheap, but since then ive owned 7 240's and im still lookin for that perfect kouki again. never a bandwagon jumper though. i just liked to be diffrent and not owning a me 2 car although i have a me 2 mustang right now but i got it myway unlike all the others with the same ol cobra r rims and cowl hoods

tr4c3 01-19-2009 12:19 AM

Well I got into rx7's in 02-03. Kinda liked the s13 coupe around the same time. Dealt with rx7's for 4 years, finally decided to transfer to something new. Insert s13. Picked up a 90 hatch in 07. I'm currently at four 240's, owning three right now. I was never into drifting, I just transitioned to them since they were similar to fc's in terms of comfortness and driveability.

ScubaSteve 01-19-2009 12:43 AM

I had a fwd v6 that was reliable but no fun to drive and while looking for a dsm to work on I found out about 240's and mr2's. I found a 240 before I found an mr2 so I picked it up and used its incredible aftermarket support to do what I wanted with it. I wanted the 240 because it was light, rwd, cheap, and it has almost unlimited possabilities. Think about it, you can have a na ka, ka-t, ca, sr, rb, 180, 240, silvia, s13, s14, s15, skyline, drift, drag, autocross, etc how many cars can excel in so many different ways without breaking the bank?

Got Insulin? 01-19-2009 12:58 AM

I'm a straight bandwagon'er. I just like the idea of what 240s represent: dinosaurs. Old, probably gay, potentially powerful, and cool as hell when done right (think raptors, not pussy brontosaurusses). Plus all those multi-colored body panels act as camoflouge. Really, I get it.
