Distributor replacement
I have a replacement distributor on the way for the B16 and need someone to install it and set the timing.
I don't have the experience with them nor the time to do it at the moment, and the car isn't roadworthy. Located in Trevose, Pa 19053 PM me with an estimate and availability please. |
spock.... don't they have a notch in them so they only go in one way??? IF thats the case just put it in... you will be perfectly fine to drive it to a shop to have them completly time it correctly
Car isn't safe to drive ATM due to suspension damage.

don't u just remove and add the new one? the dist end is like a key and can only fit one way.
yea thats what i was trying to tell him... Its simple. But the exact dizzy timing will be slightly off. But not enough to effect anything. If he cares that much he can just bring it to any mechanic to have them time the dizzy.
They can only go in one way because they are notched. If live close to allentown or reading not sure where trevose is but I can help you install it time it for you.
They go in one way. Setting the timing to get it relatively close to run ok isn't hard. Just keep turning the distributor until you get a smooth idle. That will be enough to drive it around and or get to a shop.
Most cases just set the distributor in the middle and work from there; either advance(towards firewall) or retard(towards radiator). |
spend 30bucks on a timing light and learn to do it yourself. its easy as hell and a shop will charge you at least 60bucks to do it.
I didn't know it was that easy. I'll give it a shot.
spock... if i get my car done tonight, i will come over tonight to help you. I have to get my civic fixed so i can paint it tomorrow.
Thanks, I'm still waiting on the distributor though!
