That's not gonna end well..

Hahaha 26g... even if the motor was built as the reciept described, it still wouldnt be worth no 26g.

Keeper1343 01-12-2009 06:42 AM

How do you figure it wouldn't total that high??? Those parts for that car cost alot of money. Then on top of it.... the labor. So yea the 26K is believable. I can find you 26K dollars Honda motors if you would like.

sillyeye 01-12-2009 11:20 AM

$26K and only 5xx whp. You can build a 500awhp DSM nicely done for $10K.

oh wow..

You are comparing building a DSM, to building a C6 Vette.

Lets compare apples to apples here.

Im not saying that the prices dont total up right, Im saying 26 grand is a ****ing RIP OFF for only 500 horse. I'm sure with parts and labor and machining, his bill of 26k was totalled exactly right. I would just never spend that much money for only 500 horse.

I might also add that the guys other video- is complete bull****. Cartek dynoed his car at 572 or something? He took it to two other dyno's and made like 544 on one, and slightly less on the other. 30hp is a reasonable difference when comparing dyno's, and hes acting like Cartek faked the numbers. The difference in the numbers was not large enough to definitively say that the higher numbers were faked. That difference could easily be caused by differences in the air temperature, pressure, humidity, etc (all things that the cartek dyno sheet didnt provide, so theres no way of knowing), or simply differences between Cartek's dyno and the other two.

And for the record, I'm not defending Cartek at all (before this, I'd never even heard of them). But I am saying that it is unfair to blame the whole **** on cartek when we only have the story from one uptight, overpaying vette owner. JAEGA-BOMBS!

the first sign was that Cartek billed him for a 24,000 mile warranty on normal ware.

zerioustt 01-12-2009 07:13 PM

i know a ton of guys who have gone through cartek with 0 problems...i smell some bs.

crexxy90 01-12-2009 07:18 PM

feel bad for the guy, but honestly if your dropping 26k into an engine i would ride the builders back the whole way to make sure i got what i paid for and knew everything was done correctly.

some people need to look alittle closer at whats really going on when they fork over money for service

eg87 01-12-2009 07:33 PM

well atleast i know never to take my car there, whether its just an isolated incident or if they do it to alota ppl its still ruins the companies rep. if they really ddnt do it they wud have helped him out, not said that he did what he cud.

I've heard a lot of mixed things about cartek. this is not the first I've heard of them doing this. My buddy Brain went there with his Z06 and was NOT a happy customer when he came back. they drilled a hole in one of his headers for a wideband and f'd up the coating on them and he already had one in the car and all wired up. plus the car ran pig rich and dumped black smoke when you got on it hard. it ended up running 12.0s like that. he later had Nick Yoskin retune it and the first time out at the track the car ran 11.20s on 18s, big difference!

I agree, a build LS7 should cost normally around 11-16k depending on whats in it.

If you watched more attentively you would have noticed that the car dynoed 470ish WHP and then got RETUNED by a different shop and then achieved its 540whp mark. So no, it wasn't a 30whp difference which I know can be caused by ambient temp, etc. it was a 100WHP difference. Can't really blame that on small errors can you.

james_ls 01-12-2009 07:58 PM

Theres gotta be more to this story.

Has Cartek replied to any of this?
