RIP Sport Compact Car

For any of us journalist types this especially scary, but just downright sad for whoever is a fan. This magazine used to be the holy grail of small-car performance and now has had the plug pulled. Bummer, I grew up reading this magazine and have every issue for the past 8 or so years.

First it was Turbo, now SCC. Weaaaak.

rip we will miss you....

Spocknasty 11-21-2008 05:43 PM

Source Interlink sucks.

The Captain 11-21-2008 05:44 PM

Just a sign of the times. Printed material is on it's way out with the popularity of the interwebs.

twastheglow 11-21-2008 05:44 PM

I want my subscription fee back then!

twastheglow 11-21-2008 05:45 PM

EDIT: LOL Nevermind, I get Modified. LOL

That does suck though.

TurboTagTeam 11-21-2008 05:48 PM

Damn, SCC was the ****. WAY better than Super Street with their ugly chicks on ugly riced out cars. SCC was so technicall and allways had solid feature cars. This makes me sad :(

sisforsurfing 11-21-2008 05:49 PM

hah, that's kind of funny. I also can't believe magazines like Modified and Super Street stay alive (for now) but a mostly intelligent magazine lacking rice and booth bimbos gets the axe.
Or maybe I just answered my own question.

The last few years the writing hasn't been as good, but the USCC is still cool and it's about as good as the tuner mags got.

hah... it's all about the benjamins.

RyanG 11-21-2008 06:01 PM

wtf.. IMHO that is the ONLY rag word buying... its never filled with teh Uber OMGJDM show queens.

TROLL 11-21-2008 06:03 PM

Yeah I'm real surprised to see that SCC is the one getting the ax... thats pretty beat.

TalonTsi97 11-21-2008 06:17 PM

wow can't believe it. Got an issue in the mail couple days ago and had the usual "you have 1 issue left" and asking me to renew.

Sgt. Pepper 11-21-2008 06:33 PM

I usually buy Honda Tuning and get Sports & Exotic Car by Hemmings. Sometimes picked up SCC, sad to see it go.

Print media is going away my friends.

I love web media as much as the next guy, but you'll have to pry print media out of my cold, dead, rigor mortis hands.
Don't you guys love being able to actually read something that you're holding onto and isn't lit by LCD? There's such a better physical quality to good print.

I realize i sound like a nostalgic old lady.

I quoted both of you because I agree with both of you. :(

dsmtuner 11-21-2008 07:50 PM

SCC really went downhill the last couple years. The only issue(s) I would really look forward to was when it came time for the SCC USCC.

mazda6guy 11-21-2008 09:55 PM

Damn and I just paid for a 2 year subscription.

jdm free 11-21-2008 09:59 PM

never read it, i like to stick to honda tuning but now everything is so much online its not surprising to see this happen

Kir Diesel 11-22-2008 01:47 AM

I never really read sport compact car much.... But it really sucks to see some of the big names of the scene falling apart.

My Favorite magazines as far as imports go have been Import Tuner and then Super Street.

james_ls 11-22-2008 02:01 AM

****s weak.

With a magazine that was such a pinnacle for so much, I never woulda thought THEY would bite it.
