Lowering

What should i go with when lowering my car? ex.(springs,coilovers,shocks,etc.)

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 10:55 PM

how low do you want to go?
in inches. or do you wanna tuck?

Eclipse GSX 61 10-29-2008 10:57 PM

Well obviously the best and most versatile way is by buying some super nice and expensive set of coilovers. Basically with a good set of Teins you could adjust height and dampening on the fly. I do not know your financial situation, but I had dreams to get a nice set of coilovers and it just didn't work out. I got a nice set of Tokico struts and springs for my car.

Im looking to tuck.

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 11:09 PM

deff coilovers. do it right and do it big the first time.

94integra 10-29-2008 11:13 PM

Would i need anything else, and around how much for the installation at a shop.

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 11:16 PM

id try to do it yourself. if possible. if not, just find a local guy or somebody. A shop will rape your booty whole.

94integra 10-29-2008 11:17 PM

So what would be the best coilovers to go with.

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 11:18 PM

theres a bunch of good name brands, but whats your budget...

94integra 10-29-2008 11:22 PM

im trying to stay under $350

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 11:26 PM

doubt you will be able to find a good set of coilovers, if you do. its gotta be just some used ones. no way your buying them new.

94integra 10-29-2008 11:32 PM

How much do they run about, because i saw some skunk 2 on ebay for like $250.

ourbloodykisses 10-29-2008 11:37 PM

some are quite pricey. full coilvers are wack amounts of money, but yeah you can find some for that price.

how much would that be about.

pearl 10-29-2008 11:48 PM

buy em used, i remember i bought a set of neuspeed race springs w/kyb agx used for 300, you could find a deal like that. the coilovers are sleeves you could spend 100 bucks used on. just be patient and find a good deal

A half decent suspension starts at around $600 new, good suspension is around $800 new. That's just for parts. Labor is going to be even more, on average I'd say probably in the $150-200ish range to put them in.

Or you can just get a set of H&R Sports, deal with not being tucked, and actually stay in your budget. Don't put the race's on stock springs, you will blow the shocks rather quickly.

hey man, ill put them on in lancaster for $60. The only issue you ever run into when doing this instal is if the rear lower control arm bolt is frozen. If i were you(and having me install) Id buy the suspension you want, a pair of bolts, and a pair of rear lower shock mount bushings. If they dont get used you return them, but its better safe than waiting on parts.

Also, for good suspension look into D2 coilovers, about 800 shipped new, but you can order a custom spring rate, and they are dampening adjustable. To save some coin and still get really nice suspension look into Function&Form and Omni Power coilovers(about 600 new) You can also try to find D2/F&F/Omni/Ksport/etc. used for 400-500, or you can try to find tokico/ground control used for a little less.

Whatever you do, if you're buying used, make sure the struts are still good and not leaking.

pearl 10-30-2008 11:13 AM

you guys actually buy the bushings? i just get new LCA's :P
