Skylines

Hey people this is LevittownMonster's brother MIKE.I own a blacked out 300zx TT. I love my car. But I have all ways loved Skylines and I think the time has come to get one. I have a couple questions and I will need help looking. One of my questions are that, can I have in PA with nothing wrong. I was told you can not have skylines in PA but I'm going to look more into that.

Any ways here is some Skylines that I was looking at.

It's going to be expensive. There are some that are here legally and I'm sure you can find one that is for sale easily but the legality of it is iffy. IMO you are better off building a 240 with a skyline conversion, but it's up to you. I'll let the experts hop in and let you know the logistics of getting it legally.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 11:23 AM

Simple. You cannot import any yourself anymore. You have to find one that has already been legalized.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 11:25 AM

And if it's not currently registered, it most likely is not legal.

Oh man, this is such a long story. It has to do with a company called Motorex whom submitted fraudulent paperwork to the government for legalization. To make a long story short, they will not legalize anymore that are brought to US shores. If you import one, it'll have to be either a show car or a track car. You won't be able to register it in any state. All the R32's, 33's, and 34's that are already here and legalized are grandfathered in.

Can you legalize one as a kit car.

What do you mean by "kit car"? If you're going to go that route, just buy an S14 and put on a Skyline front end and have the tails molded in properly.

Why would you want a Skyline "kit car" anyway?

No no no I am not going that route I was just asking.

Honestly bro, if you're truly looking for one...expect to pay a lot. There are obviously a limited number of these cars available in the US. So supply is low and demand is high. You're definately going to pay a hefty premium for a legalized skyline. That's just the bottom line. Well, WELL over $50K. Just a heads up.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 12:01 PM

Actually...here's a legalized R33 for $43,500 in FL.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 12:02 PM

All those other ones on eBay that people are selling for so much cheaper...they are not legalized. People are just trying to get rid of them because there's nothing they can do with them.

15,000

namdoogwerdna 10-01-2008 12:05 PM

Not legal. Its probably not even a real car. It says nothing about being titled, registered, anything. You'd be buying a 15,000 paperweight.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 12:05 PM

^ Not legal. Hence the low price. Great, you spent $15K on a car that you can't register or insure. What's the point? To keep in your garage, show girls, hope they recognize it from a movie, and hope to get laid?

LevittownMonster 10-01-2008 12:08 PM

Well I'm gonna get keep looking but if I do not find any thing I'm gonna be getting a FD

Thats lame...who cares if you have the money and you buy it you should be able to do whatever you want with it. They used to sell to americans i know a few that came from there. Just go up there ...end every sentence with "heh" and they will never know...
