Edit: The ones you shown in your post look like ther 4300K, what comes on most cars stock. Most people who install these usually go to 6K, there not to blue, but they have just a hint of blue in them. The farther you go, the different color change you will have. Anything past like 12K, I belive is illegal.

PAFirefighter11 09-29-2008 08:04 PM

Mine are 5000K but the problem is photos can be changed. It's real hard to tell. I like my 5000K but I would get 4300K if I had a choice again. Mine are real white, but enough blue to bug the piss out of me.

Any HID kit is illegal no matter what the color. If you're putting in projectors and run 4300K it's a small chance you'll be cited for them. The more blue they are, the more you're asking for trouble.

lownslow95 09-29-2008 08:08 PM

After-market hid's are only illegal if you get caught with them. Most cops usually don't give any one a hard time, because most cars now come stock with them, so they really can't do much about it.

Something like this?

This reminds me, I need to get some pictures of my hid's.

AutobahnRacer 09-29-2008 08:15 PM

the ones in my pic are def not 4300k cuz i have 4300 and they are pure white. but 6000k looks almost pure blue to me.

I was gonna say that but you beat me to it. If you can find lights between 4300k and 6000k then that would be perfect. I think I've seen 5k before. The ones in my pic are 4300k but they aren't warmed up.

russiankid 09-29-2008 10:24 PM

DDM offers a kit with 5k.

OPZ 09-29-2008 11:21 PM

Ok, here's the schpeel:

According to this chart you can see to what degree different colors land in the Kelvin chart: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ckianLocus.png

Now, 6500k is what it is mid summer day with no clouds.

HID's are ment to put out brighter then halogen light, rather then color, so above 6k you start to lose light output due to it becoming colored light.

If you want pure white light, go with a 5k. If you want the most light output just fringing on color, go with 6k.

I have 6k in my elantra, and have only had one police incident with it, which was such a fluke I almost don't even count it. Here's a pic:

Here's an on the road pic:

Just remember though, aim them so that you are not blinding oncoming traffic, or you WILL have police issues.

eviltalon 09-30-2008 08:07 AM

6k all the way

OMGz Turbo 09-30-2008 11:53 AM

BTW the first picture posted isnt 6k...they are definitely 8k because thats exactly how my lights look.

You cannot usually tell the Kelvin temp from photos. Different camera's, different camera settings, different monitors, etc. I wouldn't go higher than 5000K personally. Do you live near West Chester? I can show you mine if you want to see them.

Do you go out to any meets? I'd like to see them because I would like to get 5000k but not sure if thats what I want.

I had 10000k headlights and 3000k (yellow) fog lights on my srt4, i was pulled over and sited 3 times with "fix it Tickets". Then the car was stolen, If its attention you want hid's will def get it, good or bad... I am a little nervous about getting them for my rex.

The pic you posted looks to be 5000k, or 5300/5400, whatever they sell them as.

I've only been to a Friday Night Exton Meet once and to a Sonic Meet (unofficially). I'll be at my clubs "Final Fall Fling" on Sunday, October 12th but that's a 12pm meet so you won't really see much illumination on the road. That meet is in Peace Valley Park in Bucks County.

But again, if I could do it over again I'd go with 4300K. The company I got my HID's from did not offer less than 5000K :(

lawdogg 10-01-2008 10:38 AM

Yep 4300K is the shizz. I have 8000K and I'd like to switch at some point.

twastheglow 10-01-2008 10:46 AM

I'm very happy I went with 4300K. I would definately buy the same temperature if I were to do it again.
