7 is definately my favorite, but overall the only thing I could say wrong is the blown out sky... maybe a lil more color touch ups for certain images but nice set overall.

pics look good, I'd be happier if those gas prices were true though

ISO was different from shot to shot, and im still having trouble focusing I see what you mean.

AF gets ****ed up because of the CPL and focuses soft, and manually doing it Im still not good at. Experience shall come with time.

if you're shooting handheld, your minimum shutter speed should be 1/X where X = your focal length

200mm lens min shutter speed should be 1/200 (1/250)
50mm lens min shutter speed should be 1/50 (1/60)

be very mindful to hold things steady when you're near that threshold, but if you can shoot a bit higher than that so you dont have to worry about it.

i see no way at all that a filter could make things look soft, unless its got a layer of dirt or grease on it. it would be easy to test if its the problem or not though, have you tested that once and for all now?

its easy to blame the equipment if your photos arent coming out how you want, but without a more sound knowledge base, there are a whole lot of variables up in the air with the photographer.

new project: learn all about iso and what you want to use when and how, and set it manually from now on. auto iso is for women.

the filter shouldnt effect your autofocus that badly. take it off and take some shots to see if it makes a difference. iunno if you really need a cpl on that lens anyway, take that bish off

S4toSTI 09-15-2008 01:46 AM

Well what kind of filter is it.

It could make it harder to autofocus but it shouldn't make u miss the focus. Where on the car are you focusing? Are you focusing then moving the camera?

I position myself, zoom, then focus...the problem is on some shots its hard for me to see well enough through the viewfinder what is focused and what inst, especially when it gets close to being 100% sharp or a bit one way or the other. I need to read **** cause im not happy with these and I dont know why they are coming out this way. The more I look at them, I only like 2, 7, 9, and 11, the rest are blurry or OOF, or some other **** that I dont understand.

S4toSTI 09-15-2008 01:59 AM

I didn't mention it before but the comp on some of the pictures is a little weird.

I agree on 10 but what makes 6 and 7 different than 8?? Also, what is weird about 9??

S4toSTI 09-15-2008 02:15 AM

In 8 the car is facing the other way and not totally centered. The car is very small in the pictures and there is alot of space and distracting things above it. And i dunno cutting off half of the car always bugs me.

But you're shooting it in portrait mode, leaving more empty space. It'll work better in landscape mode due to the shape of the car. Fill the frame, work the angle.
