McCain and his [derogatory namecalling of newly chosen VP Sarah Palin]

With the choice of Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) as his running mate, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is not backing down from oil drilling. Palin is a champion for drilling, the Bush-Cheney approach to energy policy that brought us $4.00-per-gallon gasoline and the rising threat of global warming.

Like McCain, Palin believes that oil drilling is the only solution to our energy problems. “I beg to disagree with any candidate who would say we can’t drill our way out of our problem,” she says. She supports more drilling in protected areas of the Outer Continental Shelf and the Alaska Natural Wildlife Refuge, once attacking McCain for his “close-mindedness on ANWR.”

everyone else has had $4 gas or more for years, we are merely catching up to them and are still less than the rest of the world.

The main reason gas is $4 is because the demand is a lot higher now that India and other developing countries are becoming larger and larger consumers of oil and our "suppliers" had to raise the price with the increase in demand. Its simple supply and demand, elementary economics, look into it.

So if we don't like our "supplier's" price we can just go look elsewhere and what better place than the oil we already have?

There is no simple short term solution to get new energy technology to the masses, cheaply and reliably. But until then we can work on lowering the price on the energy that is accessible to us.

So what did you want? Did you want the Bush administration over the past 8 years to take government control of developing new energy technologies faster? I really do not believe this higher demand of oil was predicted and such a crisis would occur, so such drastic precautions did not take place. Automakers and others have been working on alternative energies for years and they have been moving along over the past 20 years. And still we are left with jack ****. Prius? Thats the best the Japanese could do? Some overly complex piece of crap that will get me 45mpg but will make me the most smug asshole on the block because "I'm saving the earth, I don't even use toilet paper because thats wasteful, I like the smell of my own ****." If only local governments could run public transportation more smoothly and only if the DOT weren't such giant douche's and let us have small "unsafe" cars with "dirty" diesel engines, we could make it through these "high" gas prices much like Europe has for the past who knows how many years. No one can just produce some miracle energy solution out of their ass, and make it cheap enough that everyone can afford it right out of the box, E85 was a great idea. LOL. What garbage.

Wait, wait wait. Aren't you the one that was trying to convince everyone to get a Prius? Did I miss something?

eurotrashed 08-30-2008 12:29 AM

LOL. I thought by the time that thread got locked most people figured out that no one, not even Al Gore, could be such a smug douchebag and that I was just full of ****.

Nah, I am more pro this:

70MPG TDI.

The only thing I want to know is, why the hell is diesel more than gasoline? During my recent trip to Germany Diesel was 1.30 Euro a litre and petrol started 1.40 euro a litre (90, 95 or 100 octane were the choices, freaking sweet), so its just something going on in the US, I thought it was world wide. We had a Mercedes B200 CDI (Diesel) as a rental and a week of driving all over and it was only like $150 worth of fuel. Diesels are sweet.

**** Hybrids

mrchariybrown 08-30-2008 01:20 AM

I'd def hit that sarah palin chick

that cougar could f*ck her way to world peace

enigma 08-30-2008 02:12 AM

Amen to the cougar remark.

And btw, Palin called out alot of republicans on "pet projects", and was placed on the "ethics commitee" as punishment. she resigned from that, calling the whole system corrupt. She has a pretty high approval rating from the alaskans she represents and a member of the NRA.

ANWR opponents are bull**** idiots who don't know what they are talking about. The proposed drilling area is located on a coastal shelf, a barren wasteland whenever it is not a frozen over barren wasteland, and is the size of a flies dick compared to the overall size of ANWR, which is bigger than north carolina. ANWR is a great preserve, and had some really beautiful areas in it, but the proposed area is not one of them.

The bush-cheney policy did not bring us $4/gal oil(not defending either of these two), the limitations on drilling for additional supplies from the previous sierra club douchebags as well as the global rise in demand from the expansion of third world countries is what caused this. The morons that claim this are the same morons that claim iran and OPEC are fixing overall oil prices, when most of the price of a barrel of oil is fixed by OUR OWN PEOPLE on wall street.

As soon as I saw who McCain picked for his VP I flipped.

A Women (to get the Hilary votes) from the biggest Oil state we have (Im sure he has his US oil stock all ready to go)

I Just think McCain is to Money / power driven and Obama wants to be a legend to the people. Both are fine, But only one will we all benefit from.

Vote for Obama everyone. This way when the Goverment pulls a JFK on him we will at least have Biden.

Every hybrid owner thinks they got the best thing since sliced bread, that they are single handedly saving the earth. They believe that hybrids are the solution, when infact their car gets barely better gas mileage than a Corolla and you have to pay like 5k more than a Corolla just to get one, plus there are more parts to break so its going to become high maintenance, plus the way the car is built is not environmentally friendly at all.

VW owners just believe they own a high class cars, but they are just emo kids so you can just bitch slap them and they will cry and crawl back into their parent's basement

wait, so you are going to vote for someone with less executive experience than McCain's VP pick (Obama) just because if "something happens to McCain" she'll be in power? Yeah you might as well just put someone in office with less experience to start off with then... Obama had two years in the US congress, 8 years in State, you do realize you don't have to do much work as a congressman, right? You know when you are governor you are governor 24/7 and have to make decisions on everything (much like running a country), you just don't listen to speeches and pick and chose your issues like a congressmen
