OK, so I am getting closer to getting my SR running again, but after 9 months I seem to have forgotten where some hoses/lines go.
There are 2 coolant hoses behind the turbo, that look like they should go behind the head. So basically some decent pics of the block, behind the turbo, maybe some rear shots of the head.
Also, if anyone has done anything cool with the breather on the left side of the valve cover gasket(maybe someone with a nice white coupe...mike?)
I didn't have to modify the intake side of the motor, so any detail shots of the turbo side/exhaust side would be greatly appreciated.

The lines behind the head are coolant
Particularly one is going to the turbo and the other one goes to the heater core.

I replaced one of the turbo feed lines with a braided line. I still have 2 fittings left. I think I might have taken lines off and put them together when I had first taken everything apart. I'll snap some pics.

Should be one coolant line going from the turbo to the coolant pipe behind the head. The coolant feed line for the turbo is tapped off the exhaust side of the block itself.

I'll get some pics of my breather set-up. I welded a -10 fitting to the stock T location and also were the stock PCV valve is. I'm using -10an lines and Earls Pro-Lite lines. Those run to a breather located under my hot pipe.

THe left pipe is a crankcase vent. It goes to the firewall side of the valve cover "T".

THe right is a heater hose pipe. It goes to the top heater hose nipple on the firewall.

yeah the heater pipe you have to put a pre molded U heater hose on, to go back to the pass side.

Ideally this should get its own dedicated catch can line so you're not dripping blow by into the head.

Usally people run catch cans in-line with the front side of the T. In between the T and the turbo inlet.

The OEM set-up has a catch can there wich of course works well too.

I just found out where the line from the back of the "t" on the VCG was venting to. Apparently it was just dumping on the back of the block behind the intake.EDIT: maybe I am feeling a different line...

I have all the lines in the pic ho1ywars posted, but there is one more by the turbo I can't seem to line up with stuff that should be attached. This install was rigged, at best. Looks like I am off to the parts store for some more small stuff.
Any down side to running a breather on the valve cover gasket instead of a vent hose? Something like V8's have...?

I know, most people are wrong.

The OEM box isn't a catch can, its a chambered baffle to keep oil from blowing out of the block along with the vent gasses. If you take the baffle out, you should run a dedicated line from the crackcase vent to the catch can and a line from the valve cover to the catch can.

U can run those ghetto lil vent filters on both vents if you don't run your car hard/hot, but if you do, the crack vent will see some puking without the baffle and that crud will seep back intot he head if you t off the valve cover.

I see what happened here. The original installer never really routed the hoses correctly. He just ran them together on the Left side of the motor instead of removing all the hard pipes and routing from the intake side. More like this pic...

Pressure tested the system, everything seems to hold to 1.3bar, no visible leaks.

Cranked it to get oil primed in the turbo, no leaks. Did a short test fire. Leaks. Seems I forgot to redo the return hose out of the turbo, after the turbo swap. It needed to be longer since the center cartridge was clocked differently. Never did it, and now I have some clean up. :mrgreen:

On the bright side, it idled rock steady at about 1000 RPM's...we'll see.


PS, no work today Keith? I got some BK and didn't see the car....

dont just run a breather filter. i did that for the first few weeks and then it started stinking because i was getting oil on my exhaust manifold. i ran a tube from the back of the motor, to the t, to a gatorade bottle. getto, yes. cheap, yes. functional, yes.
i used this high temp hose i got from home depot, and wrapped it in header wrap that way i didnt have to worry about it melting. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/ho1ywars/bay.jpg

What are you using for a reference signal for your BOV?

one of the nips on the bottom of the greddy intake. i just ran all the vac lines and wires through the firewall to the otherside so it looked cleaner.
