Not an owner, but I got to take a ride on one the other day, although it was an 07.
Bike handles insanely well, flicks side to side without any problem. It was setup alittle off for me (the guy who owns it is 5'10 130...i'm 5'6 185), but had no problem at all around corners, slow speed, and got up to 75. Bike has power everywhere, and you may never see the higher gears, since 1st and 2nd are more than enough to use around town all the time. All I can say, be careful on the throttle. You twise alittle, and you're flying. I didn't realize that until i had the front wheel off the ground. Really a nice looking, well made, fantastic machine. Might take some time to get used to for longer rides due to the sportbike riding position, but that's no big deal |
^ good to know i mean i have had my share of riding on my sport bike. i took mine from poconos pa to niagra falls and back so i think i am ok with that. I really wanted to know if anyone modified an r1. because the guy has the full header and exhaust for it. being that i currently have an old school r1 i know about the exup and i know if i take the exup off the power is gone! so i was not sure if putting the after market headers and exhaust was going to make the power do the same as my fzr. so i shall see keep your fingers crossed on the loan!

I had an 05 R1 Raven Edition, I put around 8000 miles on the bike
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...k/IMG_0731.jpg Did Filter and full exhaust on it, its was a fun bike but I liked my 07 Gixxer 1000 better by far. R1 was a fantastic bike, I took it to Alabama and Florida and daily drove it and it was a great time but after 10 minutes of riding my Gix I wished I had gotten it instead of the R. The power, the balance, the tossability, the riding position everything was better on the Suzuki. You wont be dissapointed at all with the R though Tire side down |
