They are a little pricey though, around 4500-5500 bucks for a lesser anteater (the species shown in the picture). For that price you could pick up a bob cat, lynx (if you can find a breeder), marmoset, a breeding pair of sloths, kangeroo, albino wallabee, etc. I've been wanting an unusual pet for a while, I will most likely be getting an artic fox, never knew anteaters played dress up so well. lol

You probably just need to apply for an exotic pet license, not much different than getting exotic snakes and that is pretty easy to get done. I am pretty sure that if you just have a bunch of bugs in the backyard with an anthill obviously being a bonus you could just let him go outside and eat once in a while. I am pretty sure any small insects should do...
