MacBook vs MacBook Pro for Photography

I've noticed that the Pro has a higher resolution which would be better for photography, but it doesn't really seem to have anything different from the normal macbook besides the graphics card. Would the graphics card play a large role in photography.
I'm thinking about getting a normal macbook and just buying a larger external monitor...would that be fine

I have a macbook that I edit my video's on, and a 22" LG widescreen monitor, and so far I've been able to crank out some decent stuff. So I would say go for whatever you can afford most, then just compensate around it.

I'm sitting here typing this on my 17" Pro and let me tell you, it is one kickass computer. I'm a photofreak too, and this computer performs flawlessly with 2 or 3 Adobe applications running simultaneously.

Either one will work.
Get whatever you can afford.

Newegg has black Macbooks for $1500 plus another $90 for a 4GB memory upgrade. That doesn't seem like a bad deal.

I am confused why you need a mac to edit photos though? Save some money and just buy a PC!

You only have an option for a matte or glossy screen on the pro models.

PC's can be just as expensive as Macs.
When you upgrade those $700 Dell laptops to be at about the same level as a MacBook they cost the same, if not more.

But my biggest questions is: does the graphics card have anything to do with photography???

No.
The graphics card has more to do with the visual effects you see on the desktop as well as gaming performance.
Photo editing all depends on ram, and processor.
