Philly Rallycross June 22, 2008!

Philly Region SCCA is proud to host our first rallycross of 2008. It will be held June 22, 2008, at the Grandview dirt oval speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. the track will utilize the dirt infield as well as the hard packed clay banked track.

More info: www.phillyscca.com

Cost will be $50. Registration will open shortly when I can change the website. We will be using www.motorsportreg.com this time.
New this year- all participants must be SCCA members. Fortunately SCCA has a weekend membership available for those of you that are non-members for $15. The 15 fee is deducted from the cost of yearly membership, if you decide to go that route after the event.

Registration is now open!

scca page wont work for me

boosted02suby 05-10-2008 08:14 PM

went to the event here last October as a spectator. I might wanna give this a shot this year, but it seems kinda pricey. How many runs will you get? How much is a regular membership for the SCCA cost?

Rally-Fast 05-10-2008 08:42 PM

we have in the past got in 6 runs minimum and usually end the day with some fun runs while we calculate the results.
It's $50 because we have to pay to rent the track, and pay to insure it. If we get 50 cars, we'll break even. This year SCCA (or really thier lawyers) requires every participant to be members for insurance protection. So they offer a weekend membership for 15, which is credited towards a full memebership if you decide to go that route, which is $60/year

is it like a open class? meaning AWD and FWD cars , id like to run my escort on a dirt track for fun

Roto 05-10-2008 09:33 PM

what are the tire requirements?

boosted02suby 05-11-2008 05:25 PM

What will the classes be and how are they determined? I have never ran my car in a rally cross event, but it does have some modifications. I am a rookie in all aspects of the SCCA and rallycross so bare with me.

sisforsurfing 05-22-2008 07:33 AM

boosted02suby, you'll probably be in prepared all wheel drive (PA). The rules are here; http://scca.com/documents/Rally%20Rules/2007rxRules.pdf

Only six responses? Bumping this up because I hope that I can make it... I'm sure it'll be a blast.

Added to the calendar.

Hando567 05-22-2008 01:15 PM

im almost definately gonna go watch, i may run my car i may not. Im a total newb and i would have to be in the rally modified class so i dont think i would stand a chance but it would be fun anyway.

siqq subie 05-28-2008 05:18 PM

im pretty mad that we have to be scca and 50 is enough to pay as it is.

i was really excited until i read that. dunno what ill do yet.

Hando567 05-28-2008 05:21 PM

Rally-Fast 05-29-2008 04:16 PM

Unfortunately this is beyond my abilities to change. Laibalitly Insurance costs for the SCCA have increased significantly, and they are passing the costs along to members and participants alike. The SCCA's insurance company has mandated that all participants must be members, so now they offer the $15weekend membership to cover their butts.

I do hope you will at least make it out to this event. I am hoping to get more ladies other than you and my wife involved, so in the future we could have a ladies classes.

siqq subie 05-29-2008 05:50 PM

That'd be awesome, im not sure yet though. Im also going to be on vacation with my family 21st to 28th so ill have to drive back if i wanna come. the lip and summer tires have to come off too hahahaha. and as of right now - no job, so if i can cut it ill come.

oh, when would we have to register to be members by?... since i like to be last minute and cut it close like that...... or do we just pay 65 at the event? i is confused.

OOPS, thats www.motorsportreg.com
Links fixed.

Rally-Fast 06-13-2008 04:32 PM

Only a few days left for pre-reg, so sign up now.

We're not yet at the limit for reg., so plenty of runs for those of us coming!

sisforsurfing 06-15-2008 11:16 AM

Bummed. The winter tire that I thought had a small puncture that could be plugged ends up having a cut in it that's not repairable. I can't run in summers so won't be there :(
