ok so my car is still sitting at my parents garage...

compression 180-190 across all four
leakdown - less then 1% (some 0% ;) ) in all four cylinders
timing is correct, and checked with timing belt
swapped out fuel pressure regulator
changed spark plugs
swapped out ecu's and verified cabling of my obd2 to obd1 harness

What i will be checking next
Ignition coil replacement
ordered fuel pressure gauge to check for fuel issues..
possibly getting new spark plug wires...

Haha. I told you leave the Honda stock, right. They are reliable because they are slow. Make them fast and they start to act like the car they most want to be like....

Btw, you should make the title read ifeellikeiownaFASThackeddsm. Stock DSMs are still very much japanese like when it comes to build quality.

i have heard that ignition coils go fairly frequently in the honda world now ( had no idea) so heck its gonna be a $30 replacement part... so we'll see

you got a distributor, not ignition coils.... go fish.

Yea, definately change your title. DSM's are a ton easier to work on...why? Because they are stock turbocharged not hax0red.

Chair-Force: It's your fuel map, it has a nasty hole. Thats why you're unloading in 3rd. Lengthen the injector pulse another milisecond. Just tune the NOS timer and you'll be running 9's.

Dsms are not reliable sorry ask anyone who has put lots of time and effort into theirs they will not lie they are a bitch when it comes to reliability. They are fast but not a wonderful daily driver...for me at least.

P.S. I used to have two DSm's so im not guessing or spouting **** ive heard other places. They are still wonderful and i wish i could pick one up for this winter.

Just a shot in the dark---Did you check the fuse for the ecu?

Considering I've owned a turbo AWD DSM for over 15 years, I've had 5 myself, and I've worked on over 100 others I would have to disagree. The biggest problem with them is that a lot of people neglect them, beat them, and then don't fix them right. There is so much tech stuff on them on the internet that everyone that owns a DSM thinks they are automatically a mechanic missing a couple very important things everytime they wrench on it. And they are so easy to make fast. Any fast car is going to wear parts faster or break them. That's just the way it is.

Granted they will never be known to be as reliable as a stock Honda. But modded Hondas and just about any other car will be the same. Hence this thread... lol.

If you take the battery out they are easy. Just as easy as working on any other Japanese car. There are a couple tricks to working on them. But again, that is just like any car. Ever change spark plugs in a boxster motor or on a motor where you have to pull the intake off or wheel off just to get access. I would rather change the fuel filter in a DSM than replace spark plugs in a 90's V6 GM car.

Umm I agree that they break a lot...but my GSX is a wonderful daily driver.
