Congrats on the new camera! The D40 is a great introduction camera, I wish it was out when I first jumped into photography so I didn't end up with my crappy $400 point and shoot originally.
The pics are nice. Only thing I notice about them is that they're not quite level, but I will not criticize too much on that because all my pics are slightly tilted too :) It's a very easy fix in photoshop, too. Best advice I have is just get out and take lots and lots of photos, as things just get better with more practice. |
thanks, yea i've been watching them for the past month or so, and i was at best buy and they had the d40 on sale and w/ the 2nd lens the 55-200mm so i jumped all over it.
i wasnt using a tripod, tho i have 2 already, but this was just my first time so i was just shooting away. ended up shooting 1200 shots the other day so it was a lot of fun. |

Welcome to the Nikon side! lol... Decent photos. The IQ on them isn't too up there. It's most likely the kit lenses you have. If you get some extra cash, sell those two and get the setup I have that works flawlessly! The D80 kit lens, a Nikkor 18-70, and the fun 70-300 VR. That lens is huge and draws attention, but I guess my grip helps draw attention as well.
Yah I have issues with level horizons as well sometimes. But that's what photoshop is for if I really care enough to fix it. |
^^The grips are awesome for drawing attention. I've gotten the "Hey, look, they have a D3!" comment more than once because people just see the size and think it's one of the pro series. Never mind that the strap clearly says D200 :)
