Ok, so I finally decided to start my own... UPDATED! 6-16-09 RIP my rex see last page

Ok so I finally started my own journal...

Bought my first subaru in October of last year.

I had just sold my Mustang Because of the trouble I was constantly getting myself into... I was also tired of being only able to go fast in a straight line.

So... I bought myself, a 2005 Subaru WRX... Fully optioned, everything.
Sunroof, heated seats, upgraded sound system, the whole nine.

Bone stock and I happened to know the first owner, who happened to be a retired mechanic.. So I knew the car was immaculate, and with 22k on the clock, I wanted it.Couldn't afford the STI and also didn't want the attention that comes with getting 1.

My first mod was deleting the snorkel in the fender... that didn't last long, a Cobb tuning cold air intake was installed, with a Perrin Afta- Maf extention.

Later that month I picked up a Helix Catted Bellmouth Downpipe used for 100 bucks, had 200 miles on it. Later that week, a Mad dog mid pipe as well as an STI axle back went on. Bought from the same source, for another 100 bucks with same mileage...

Then the next month, an STI tmic and perrin rear swaybar and endlinks went in. Then a Kartboy shortshifter with both sets of bushings.

Then, a boost gauge and a Raptor shift light I had from the stang went in...
A Forgemotorsports Wastgate Actuator went in, and I finely adjusted it to 19.5 lbs. Car moves pretty well...

Next up... Perrin Turbo inlet..
Then, Tein springs and a Turbo XS rfl... dunno why, but I had to try it and it was 60 bucks, so why not.
Picked up Unequal lengths with up pipe thanks to Seven,
And thats how the car sits... Keep in mind folks, all this was done in less than a year. Thats pretty much how it sits now, untuned, daily driven.

Next on list.

Act Flywheel and Clutch. Will be installed with the header up pipe assembly...
Struts.
Road tune By TurboTek...

thats it so far... Stay Tuned! lol

WOW! I cant believe your motor lastest more then a couple of pulls with 19psi untuned on a 05. I would put a short block on that list of things to buy....seriously. Do a compression test asap and if its not blown have someone tune it right away!

I baby it all the time

I've never done a full pull on it. Im always part throttle, I never go WOT.
I'm not dumb, especialy when it comes to the longevity of my engine...

Chris_PA 04-21-2008 10:23 PM

You've never gone WOT?

Then what's the point of boosting almost 20lbs?

You never go WOT yet you tuned it to 19psi?......and it "really moves" at pt? I could care less what happens to your motor but running around with your mods is dumb, even driving at pt. You know about the open/close loop delay on the 04+?
Like i said do a compression test asap.

Ok. let me correct myself. I've gone WOT in 1st 2nd and 3rd. thats it.
I started this to show whats done to my car and how it's coming along.
Im not trying to be a smartasz know it all. Did you ever stop to think that maybe I don't have the money for a tune yet? You are intitled to your own opinion.

ej20wrx123 04-22-2008 07:11 PM

Thats fine if you dont have money for a tune right away.....i didnt. But i was smart enough to hold off on putting the mods on untill i had money to get tuned. I'am not saying all of this to be a know it all, or a dick.....iam saying this to help another suby owner out. I would hate to hear that your motor is blown.

I would def do a compression test asap, like i said before. Hell, come up to my neck of the woods and ill do it for ya
Paul

No thanks, I will get it done at school. And continue to drive it cautiously, until I have the money

Speed Parts triple A pillar, (Awsome fitment)
Autometer gauges.. Mechanical Boost, Elect. Oil pressure, and Pyro.

Also installed as of recently, because I'm tired of being in limbo of getting my car reflashed.

I got myself a full package from The folks at Tactrix.com
All the goodies nessecary to have my suby reflashed and or even go back to stock. I even opted for the LC-1 Inovate Wideband.
All the hardware and software thats needed I now have, so, now I can finally fix that pulsing problem.. and see what my car is actually doing..

Im planning on a lot of data logging...

Suspension upgrades.... Kyb Gr-2 shocks. (Courtesy of fastwrx.com)
and a new set of Megan racing springs.. Its awsome... I actually have suspension travel now!
